Over 1.1 million requests last week
Posted on 27 September 1998, 02:34 GMT
The weekly record has been broken again as 1.1 million requests were amassed last week, which also marked the 10th straight weekly increase. For a more in-depth view of our stats, check out the Web Server Statistics page. September 1998 is also the busiest month on record with over 3.5 million requests. With an average of 150,000 requests per day, this month should end out around 4 million requests. We thank our many loyal visitors for making this all possible. Look for a new section to open in about a week or two. :)

Well Ray, I know that the DC isnt out yet (I know this isnt the place to talk about video consoles), but as I recall, when the 89 was annouced, everyone said it was gonna rule. I am sure that knocked the 8x users, but the peeps touting the greatness of the 89 had a point. The 89 is more powerful in most aspects to all 8x calcs and the 92 itself. So is the DC. The DC being more powerful than the N64, the psx, and some PC's, I have some point saying that the DC will be better than the psx in terms of power. I am not out to knock the psx user base, for I know it being large and growing, I am looking to be flamed if I do. I am saying that the DC looks like a good thing, as did the 89, and I shall change my views accordingly as the times change and the psx2 (or whatever it will be called) is leaked and eventually introduced. But as of now, I firmly stand by my OPINION that the DC will be a better machine. Being that the psx is rather old now, and the power and graphics have improved in a cost basis, the DC seems as a better option for the upcoming systems. And about my e-mail address, I would have gotten a psxrocks@dreamcastsucks.com to match it of my views change, but there wasnt such available domain available when I registered. In short, I see a good thing and I am calling it as I see it. I couldn't care less about Sega's rep right now, for I dont care about the name of a company, but as for support, and specs (power). I see the superior power (Dual voodoo 2 power in a console, built-in modem, 26 or more megs of RAM (I forget the total RAM, I know its 16mg for system RAM), 1 gigabyte cd's, so on/forth...) and I see the support for it (300 developers, source: Sega Otaku), I am calling it like I see it. I shall change my views if needed when the psx2 is announced (I dont take rumors that are out very truthfully yet, but I hear of a rumor for a psx emulator for the DC, makes me wonder). Sorry for the long and somewhat pointless and out of place post, but I must make sure that Ray (and others) see the point im my e-mail address (yes, somewhat pityful...)

Is that 1 million file requests or 1 million its on the main page?
Because I probobly add 4-8 fire requests or more a day, but only 1- 2 visits to the main page.

First off, is the 1.1 million requests for downloads, or actual hits to the site. Either way, it is an impressive figure. I check more than one Ti site, and I would like to see a PUD section on Ticalc.org. Also, I think this rivalry between Ti sites is dumb, the sole purpose of all of them is to provide downloads/info to the Ti user. To better the situation of everyone, perhaps the sites could work together, trade programs, links, etc.

i like ticalc.org, but am getting really sick of hearing about their great amount of hits and requests. Its gotten obnoxious. Either give some real news or dont post this ego-caressing junk.. all it really serves to do is cause anger between web sites.

OK. To clear this all up, a web page "request" is any time any file is trnasfered from the server. Everytime someone goes to a different page in the site, everytime someone presses refresh or reload, everytime someone gets a program, everytime an image is downloaded with a page, etc. These are all requests. if a page has two frames, and the one on the left is an imagemap, and the one on the right contains a logo picture, already that is 5 requests: the index.htm page, both frame sources, the imagemap pic and the logo pic. each of these is a requst. if you press refresh, this is an additional 5 requests.
get it now?
just helping (hopefully) to clear up some questions ppl been havin.

All the ones in caps have been violated many, many times here. Methinks that it is rude to bash a site on its own message boards. Perhaps some posts here need to be deleted, eh?

You people are so dumb. Why would you come here every hour. Dang, there are ways to write your own damn programs. Quit trying to take everybody else's hard worked on programs and using them and crying because nobody is making the games you want. Damn, some guy writes programs on his own time, and actually puts it on-line and you guys bitch because it isnt the kind you want. Well, if you dont like it, than SUCK IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So, if I get the this "Feature" revoked for my language and bad behavior, well good, who would want to come here and read about you little punks complaining about other peoples hard work. And, if you have something to say to me, then respond to this or get the hell out of here!
