Graphics: 7/10

Ok, you're a small little guy thats 3 pixels by 4 pixels fighting enemies of equal size. The bosses are much larger than you, but they all look like an angry worm with guns (the last one looks like an extremely evil worm LOL)

Hackability: 3/10

Wow, this game is REALLY easy to hack. I know that the point its to keep it all BASIC using no ASM, but why not use just ONE asm program to create and update an appvar for saving? Those are a little harder to hack...

...my slot 1 is at the last boss with 999 continues, 10 life medals and a gun range of 25! (and of course, my score is too big to even fit the screen :)

Fun: 8/10

Overall: 7.5/10

To many lists I have to delete too often, but moderately fun.

I have waited for many months for the latest “Contra 83” release, and I found it to be one of the best BASIC games out here.

-Graphics: 8/10: Graphics in “Contra 83” are very good for BASIC, considering the fact the game doesn't use any ASM utilities and they load pretty fast.

-Gameplay: 9/10: While the artificial intelligence may be poor in “Contra 83” (enemies won't move at all) and there are some noticeable slowdowns, it has a reasonable difficulty level and many features. Also, a boss guards each level, and you must develop some tactics to defeat him.

-Controls: 9/10: The controls are well chosen and you don't have to go to the readme to figure out how to jump, shoot, etc.

-Replay Value: 10/10: This is a very addicting game. Be warned! If you download this, you will probably not be able to stop playing :).

-Overall: 9/10: A must download! But remember that Contra 83 might act as a drug :)

This is quite an accomplishment in TI-BASIC. It's one of the first platform games in BASIC, and probably the most fun BASIC game that I have played.

Gameplay: 9.5/10
This game has the best gameplay that i have seen in a TI-BASIC game. The controls are really easy, and there's not much of a lag, even on my non-silver edition. The character moves quite fast, almost like in ASM. There is one problem though, and that is that you can move through vertical walls. This can be quite annoying. That's the only reason that I gave it a 9.5 and not a 10.

Graphics: 8/10
The graphics are alright. It doesn’t matter that the character is only 5x3 pixels or that the levels are made of lines. The graphics are great for the purpose of the game, if you consider how fast it is and that it is written in BASIC.

Replay Value: 10/10
First, it can take quite a while before I finish this game, I've been playing for 1.5 hours now and I'm still in level two. Second, because of the difficulty levels, you can beat the game on easy first and then play on higher difficulty levels. Third, when the level editor is done, you can make your own levels and play even longer!

Overall: (not an average) 9/10
This is a great game, even though the graphics are quite simple and there is a bit of a lag. A great achievement for TI-BASIC!
