Most people who have graduated from college have better things to do than screw around with calculators

I don't understand all this American hoosafudge. I'm at university, does that equal college, 'cause, over here, college is where you do A-levels (age 16-18).

Est-ce que quelqu'un s'inquiète?
Axycer Account Info

Sorry if my French is a little off, I am only a tri-lingual woman, though I am trying to learn French. College all the way!!!

Yeah, I must apologize -- this is unfortunately a very U.S.-centric question. I'm afraid there are just too many different international educational structures to accomodate them all...

America's college == Europe's universities.
Europe's colleges == America's junior high school.

And Sweden (thats a part of Europe) doesn't have anything named "college" :)

to confuse even more, college could be either University or "high school" (if you translate it directly from swedish to english)

isn't languages fun?

Junior School in England is 7-11 (KS2)
Surely a survey about TIcalc users' ages would have been better (and less ambiguous)

Last year of High School == first year of Gymnasium in Denmark
Two first years of College == two last years of Gymnasium in Denmark
Beyond 2 first years of College == Nothing in Denmark
University == University in Denmark
Technically I would be in College (second year of Gymnasiym) but I signed "High School Senior" just to be polite ;)

Most other countries only let smart students go from one level of education to the next. Here in America, we give any idiot an education at the expense of the gifted students. THAT'S why America is so far behind everyone else in education!!!

Darn right! Down with social promotion! A high school diploma ought to mean something.

btw, I don't see the problem with high dropout rates. If someone doesn't give a damn about their education, they should at least do something for society by easing school overcrowding.

I don't know what all the different types of schools are called in different countries. This is the breakdown by age in the US:
High School : 14-18
College : 18-22

ah, but school is not based on age. for instance, if i wanted, i could graduate from high school this year (i just turned 16)...i won't be 18 when i graduate, and i plan to be 20 when i complete my undergraduate program at college. so there.

Your age breakdown is flawed, for two reasons:

1. Some students graduate in less than four years.
2. Many students take more than four years to graduate.
