That's what I used to like so much about www.calc.org. It used to include screenshots. And now if this website has shots, that'd be excellent.

Some programs do. If a program has a red or purple icon, it has still or animated screen shots, respectively.

Solar Striker 1.00 Final has a bug that lets you get an extra power-up at the beginning (at least for the TI-89). This is relavant to the above post, because Solar Striker was a featured game back in December of 1999. Anyways, the way to get the extra power-up is to start a new game, and get to the part where you first get a power-up. It should come in a little cargo vessel, and blow that up to reveal the power-up. Now, do not get it, but instead move to the bottom-middle of the screen (for easy retrieval) and press Shift. Now, start a new game and the power-up will be right in front of you.

Yes, it does, and I like that. Strangely I find myself avoiding programs that don't have the green progrma icon, because I can't see waht I'm downloading or what I'm about to take time to put on my calculator.

Well, to the best of my knowledge, ZTetris hasn't ever been a featured program, yet it's most definitely one of the greatest games in TI calculator history.

This goes for several other things, too. Just because it doesn't have a green icon doesn't mean it's not any good.

Many programs, not games, but programs, are quite good at their intended purpose but for obvious reasons are almost never (possibly never will be) featured. And, to the best of my knowledge, Ztetris has not ever been featured, despite it being one of the most popular and best games out there. Tetris has been put on just about every programmable device with a decent display. I have it on NES (tetris & new tetris), n64 (tetrisphere), TI-83 (ztetris), TI-85 (ztetris), TI-86 (ztetris), TI-89 (tetris), and computer (tetris). I'm surprised there aren't watches with it on it by now...Maybe someday....

Don't forget cellular phones! A friend of mine has tetris and nibbles on her cell phone. Now, if only my ti89 could transmit sound data over telephone lines, I would be set!

TI-89 and phone lines

Once I learn TIGCC, I will see about writing a program and designing an adapter that allows this. The program would allow you to access the internet and make phone calls using the TI-89. All you would need to do is either hook it up to a phone jack or put a pay phone handset in the mic and speaker thingie. When plugged into a phone jack, the mic and speaker (in recesses for pay phone) can double as a phone. The TI-89 would be the keypad and modem. The 68K processor would encode/decode, instead of an external modem.

Yes, there are watches out there with Tetris on it. My sister and I each got one about 5 years ago, from a cereal offer (I forget exactly which one)

I have found that (in my opinion, you must understand) whether or not a program is featured depends on who wrote it more that what it is/does.

Well, I think the system of calc.org would be so cool, but it takes to long to load the hole site to load the Archivesites. The screenshots are good to see what's happening in the program! Would be happy to see something like dim-ti, but more like a list, whithout missing the existing sheme!!

Look at the archives at http://www.twilight-ti.org/ when we get back up after a nice format change.

They have screenshots AND reviews of every game.

Unfortunately, we won't be up for a couple of days.

I have found that many programs have great screen shots, but the program turns out to be a waste of time.

I agree. The more important feature would be a detailed description of the game with maybe a screenshot or two but the screenshots alone wouldn't set it apart from everthing else.

Well, the screen shooter guy should probably just take a screenshot of the most important part in the game, so that we don't get over excited. It'd be nice if the screenshots were animated... drool...but that'd take so much more time. Oh well, tsk tsk tsk.

I like looking at the screenshots. They help me decide whether or not to download. Also, GOOD program descriptions help alot too. Not something like: "Pong v3.4" Does that tell me anything? no. just that it's pong. Like, are there any special features? That's where reviews come in handy, but not all games have reviews.. ok, enough of my blabering. I'm mad because my computer store closed at 1 and i got there at 2:30. i wanted to buy an expasion slot fan. :-(

Screenshots are good, but they don't need to be of the title screen or some crap like that... there should be several shots from each program so that you don't just have one awesome shot of the only cool part of a sucky ass game, or a suck screenshot from the only bad part of a kick ass game.

I happen to take screenshots for calc.org right now (although, I've applied for the new job here). I agree that there are many screen shots that just show the intro screen. But check out the one for Pheonix. It just keeps going!
