Despite the fact that not only did I have my laptop crash on my this week, but also my desktop, I was still able to get the survey up :-) My desktop is just about 100% operational at this point, and I'm going to start working on my laptop shortly. I'm actually doing this on my laptop at the moment, thank you Knoppix! (That's also how I was able to save all of my data...and finally invest in an external hard drive).

rom8x, TiEmu, TilEm, Squirrelbox, were all hard to vote on since they were/are all very good. There are/were many good competitors, but I think TiEmu would be the most useful, since it emulates the v200 and the 89T. Good luck to all of them and their authors.

I would have to agree, TIEmu has simply become the best emulator out there, replacing the old Emulator VTI for the 68k series calculators.

The review calmly explains why it isn't functional. It produces illegal assembly. Thats what a review is for.

Really? I find it helpful, beneficial, not unhelpful, not unbeneficial, and good to be repetitive...

Have you ever actually tried it? It's actually quite nice. I must admit it can't compare variables very well but it's still in a development stage. It's also the only Java-like language for z80 calcs.

nope I haven't. I code in 68k asm.
But even if I did have a z80 calc, I'm not going to code in a language based on the promise that someday it'll work. I wouldn't do that for any platform.

Huh? Wait, so you're saying that the point of this compiler that makes it so great is exactly that it is SO bad that it forces you to program in assembly? If I wanted something to encourage me to learn assembly, I'd hire someone to poke me in the butt every time I started programming in BASIC.

No, what I'm saying is that because it's not working I'm considering learning asm. You're idea costs more and hurts a lot more.

I think that a good working compiler helps you to learn asm more than one that doesn't work. because you can learn how to program for the calc whith a high level languadge that you (hopefuly) have used before before you try a new launguadge.

Yeah, you can look at the output and see how it matches the high-level code.

I agree. Despite what the review says, it is really very useful to someone like me who is too lazy to code asm from scratch.

Now, you made me curious. What can you do with it? What have you used it for so far?

Although pretty much useless as a program, I made this nearly entirely using SquirrelBox, with a minimal amount of editing done by me. (see link)
