A free gift is always nice, but I'd rather get a free Ipod instead of something school related. Thank god for thanksgiving break!

Who actually WINS those free items anyway?

The people who actually bother to do it. Sometimes I think that these things aren't all scams. I should be getting a free digital camera for trying out AOL for a couple months. I just hope I don't forget to cancel before they start charging me. As long as you're on your toes you're okay.

NO WAY! Your TI calculator only costs about 100$ at most and an iPod is at least 200$, do you expect TI to to make profit anymore!

If the gift is "WIN" iPod, the chances of winning will be like 1 out of 100000, nad the winner would not likely to be YOU.

No, it is called a pyramid scheme. I sign up to win, then I have to get 7 others to sign up and I DO win. for those seven people to win, they must each get seven peoples. Genius, really.

Pyramid schemes themeselves are NOT illegal, if there are actual goods being exchanged and enforced rules that require that the goods be exchanged, then it is legal... (check URL and other info about ponzi/pyramid schemes/multi-level marketing on wikipedia as well...)

I actually know someone who got one. The hard part is getting other people to give their credit card to a website they know nothing about. There was a guy trying to get people on my bus to sign up, and everyone thought he was an idiot.

Actually, I don't think the freeExpensiveItems.com websites are pyramid schemes. A pyramid scheme is where you make money off the people you recruit making money. As far as I know, once you get your free ExpensiveItem, you don't get anything else and are out of the picture.

To be honest, I'm ALMOST considering debating whether to sign up for freeNintendoDS.com when it's up. (It will be; I checked. the domain is registered.)

The winner will most likely be the someone related to the contest organizer. All they're looking for is your mouse-click.

As for the holiday gift, I'm not going to use it, because my textbook is not covered. Then again, I don't think they cover multi-variable calculus and such. I still registered, though. It's kinda pointless if they don't ask for your calc ID, IMO.

Most of the time that's illegal. 99% of the time, the rules specifically state that anyone with any connection to the organizer/sponser is ineligible. Of course, the trick is catching them.

Here's me thinking it was a "Everyone's a winner!" competition. Having an iPod as a prize rather than a TI Calc would be bad because they'd have to pay wholesale price to Apple or if they're lucky "get it free" whereas there own product doesn't cost them much at all.

the freeipod.com websites are NOT pyramid schemes and they DO work. I already got me 200$ Free gift certificate, and if any of you watch techTV (now g4, oh and all of g4 sucks btw) alex one of the hosts of The Screensavers signed up for an iPod mini and got it after about a month. It works. While I'm on the techTV subject, Ill add again that g4 sucks they just got rid of alex and kevin as hosts. I will now stop watching G4, as soon as I win the lotto, I will host my OWN techTV channel! mUahahha
