Looks kind of interesting, although the only news that I ever look at is the ticalc homepage news.

You need to think about his more. At ti-news you can do the following...

1. Post news articles that will appear on the front page.
2. Use their Conglomerate news feeds that puls in all the news from around 10 different TI sites.
3. Post your own polls.
4. Use their self made RSS feeds which work in any RSS reader.

I personally use their RSS feeds to all the ti sitesand its a whole lot easier than visiting all the TI sites around. But then again I am aslo subscribed to all the ticalc.org news feeds???

It seems like numbers 1 and 3 will become super-abused as the site grows.

That's what I'd be afraid of, but from what I've heard, they're not.

Maybe because a lot of people don't know about those options...

But if they're a member, how could they not know about them? They'd have to be pretty oblivious...

Hmm. Let me get this straight. You're plugging ti-news.net over ticalc.org?

As far as news is concerned I would. In all fairness there is a lot of stuff we get reports about that never makes article form.

Oh hell no....ticalc.org is still number one IMO. But we are just becoming a little out of date in some areas as far as user options. I don't like how we chose what the community does and does not talk about.

In essence ti-news is more free, but they lack the audience.

But ticalc.org has an archive. That's something ti-news.net doesn't have.

You can still do numbers 1 and 3 on this page if you send them to the web site and they count them as important enough. I think this way controls it a lot better than a rating system and karma.

Also, besides the fact that they seem to post more news items, ticalc is practically the same. (they both have polls and news with message boards)

You changed your account preferences and posted under seemingld different people.

Rodney Blyth == mirra (the above post)

Anywaym the main differnce is that ti-news is more user available. Unlessyou can post news articles and surveys here at ticalc.org?

Hee Hee....It wasn't supposed to turn out that way, but it is kind of cool! LOL ;)
As I said above it is interesting, but...I guess I don't find going to two or more sites for TI information very efficiant.

no, mirra is too short. when you see the username then the orange page over the text "(Web Page)" it looks better if the name is a few letters wider then the line below. As a plus, full names seem more identifying (easier to remember), and Rodney Blythe is a /really/ cool name.

sorry, that sounded alot cornier than it was supposed to. I was trying to get a point across: (ignore the fact that i ended a sentence with a preposition and put a colon after another one.) not enough people respond to the discussion boards at TInews.net. IF you look, there are less than ten responses to most topics.

oh, end your sentences with a preposition if it makes it easier to understand. while mindlessly wading through the endless philisophical goop of the last half of Orson Scott Card's Xenocide, I noticed that very few of his sentences actually make sense. One sentence had a triple negative with nonexistant words (ie nonactive vs inactive) that when i actually unravelled all the negatives it came out to mean exactly opposite of what it was supposed to.... but it got the point across and i couldnt have thought of a better way to phrase it.
