I am missing the 'There is a TI support?' option :)

That means you never need it.

I used it once when my ti-89 would not hook up to the TI-Connect software. They sent me a new calc, but so far havent sent me anything about the old one...

Anyone know the output voltage/amperage of the link port?

:-/

The link port doesn't use anolog output, of course meaning it must be digital. TI will give you free samples of digital-to-analog signal converters at TI.com, though.

No, no, umh, during data transfer there is (obviously) voltage running between the two calcs. via link cable, now what I'd like to find-out is either the greatest (max) measured voltage or amperage (preferably both).

Obviously its enough to light-up a 3 volt(max) LED however I have reason to believe the output volyage of the link port is a lil' higher(greater) than that.

In that case, try searching google, there aren't very many people here that get into hardware protocol.

how about (link) Romain? (TiLP creator)

I HATE THAT ANSWER!!!!!!!!! AAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

The reason why I'm asking here is b/c I'm TIRED of WASTING my time on Google searches that give me purchase order forms for link cables and the RICHFILES page!

I've WASTED 3 - YES, 3 DAYS GOOGLE SEARCHING THIS DAAAAMN TOPIC, THIS FORUM IS MY LAAAAAAAST HOPE!

O_O :| I feel a-lil' better now. :)

At a guess 5V (well if they use TTL it must be) failing that I think 6V is a used value for some other logic chips.

Voltage is not between nor does it run / move. Voltage is a measure of (potential) energy - energy per amount of charge (supplied or released).
Current is what moves (a flow of electrons).
Sorry to be pedantic, but it is just one of those things.

Oh geez, I can't believe I didn't think of this earlier... get your self a multimeter and hook it up to the curciut running your LED, you'll need to hook it up in parallel for measuring voltage, and in series for current (amperage).

I've done that myself. It was somewhere around 5V, obviously, since it uses standard logic. (If it ran off a 3.3V supply, it would only need 3 batteries).

The amount of current flowing through the link port depends on how much is being drawn by the load on the port. If there isn't anything connected to it, no current will flow.

THANK_YOooooooooooooouuuu! ;D

I'm **TOO** cheap, that and I wouldn't know how much a multi-meter would cost anyway. (don't want to turn this low-budget project into a larger one, then I'd have to charge-just for the circuit diagram and I don't think *ANYONE* would want that to happen. ;)

The only time I sent an email to support so far was when I found out that sending certain matrices from the TI-89 to TI Connect always caused TI Connect to crash.

They said they were able to successfully reproduce the problem, and that it is being investigated to be fixed in a new version.

That's good news. Now I just have to wait for them to release a new version of TI Connect. But we all know how slow TI is with releasing softare. :)

The only time I needed support, they never got back to me (well, they sent one reply, but never followed up) It was shortly after I got my TI-89, the first thing I did was upgrade to AMS 2.05 (from the 2.03 it came with) and found that HW2Patch wasn't yet available for it... I asked them for an older version of the AMS, they asked me which one I'd like, I told them I wanted 2.03, they never answered back...

While I voted no, I have a vague since that I have used it befoer. However, I cannot remember for what, nor can I remember how they preformed. So, while I might have, I am going to stick with the fact that I am a genius.
