Yah, my program 09 Armies was in the Top 25 Downloads Weekly for quite a while. It still remains in the Top 50 consistently...

I feel like such a shmuck. The only reason that it's downloaded so much is because it's the first on the list. Ooohhh, My life is a sham. (:-(

That, combined with its good description...

In that case, I should make a program called "007" or something, just to get on the top!

Or just spell all your zip files with a 0 at the begining. ;)

example: 0snakes.zip

LOL, I've often thought of doing that, but I never did. Of course, you could always make it more subtle like "AWESOME SNAKE" or "AARON'S SNAKE" or even "#1 SNAKE"

Those would all be at the top of the list. :) Of course, that is kind of cheap...

Yah, but the funny thing is, I actually named it "09 Armies" without that thought in mind. I realized it a little while later (I still think it's kind of shammy). But anyway, I did kinda play it up to be a little more than superior in the description. I guess I was just proud that I finally finished the damn thing. Oh well.

Yes, but if people read the contents of the file before downloading it, you will be in the last 2th list ;-) !

Only one of my programs out of twelve seem to get quite a bit of attention, but it has never been close to the the top lists. I am coming out with some new programs, so maybe that will change.

Well, I checked my program Age of Darkness I for the 83+) over at calcgames.org, and it is in the top 25. The only thing is it has only half the downloads that it does here. And it even has a review at calcgames.org. They know talent when they see it! j/k lol

As soon as I release "Want For Speed" - my new 3D racing game - one of my programs certainly will be on the top 25 :) The problem is, I need to make it perfect so that I get better ratings (no measly 8's or anything like that) and it'll take a lot of testing and a lot of tweaking. All my planned features (like AI, cops, optimized graphics) are going to have to be in the first version to get a good rating.

This sort of perfection of uploaded software is exactly why ticalc.org implemented the rating system, and it seems to have worked... at least for my software.

People interested in beta testing the first real 3D racing game for TI-68K calculators, please contact me, I'ld love to get your support. All beta testers will recieve due credit.

Whoops, I though the poll was referring to ratings exclusively, in that case, I've had a couple programs that made it on the top 25 weekly downlaods.

..."Want For Speed", eh? well, if you wanted to do a takeoff of need for speed you could at least name it "In Pursuit of Speed". At least then it would show up higher on the lists. B^)

Or you could name it with a Z so it will appear at the end, like ZTetris, Zkart, etc. :-D (Even though that's more of a PAD thing)

I could name it "000 Want for Speed" :) 0 comes first at least on the ASCII table

_ comes before any letters or numbers. However every once in a while I go through and rename all those files that look like they are trying to purposefully get on the top of directories.

I think the first printable and accepted character is alt 15, ☼. That would work :)

☼snakes.zip

LOL- that's really lame... but as Morgan said, below... some of those ARE renamed :)

I've uploaded only one program because it was trivial enough that the company I work for couldn't sell it. If I had been *able* to upload anything else, such as a ghost VAT that allows the use of subfolders and more than 8 letter variable names, or the OS my division is working on, or other utilities, etc., they would be in the top 25.

Any chance you could post a like to your companies web site (if they have one)? I'm interested in seeing some of the projects you've done...I noticed that your bio was "deleted at the request of your boss" so maybe he doesn't wnat you to post the website either?

I tried that and ended up with "http:///" in the URL line. If you want some info, see the Program Ideas and Upcoming Programs sections (68k subsections-you'll see two rather long comments about "Morvlon 3.00, our OS project). Sorry about not being able to give you a link right now but try www.oahat.org in a few months-once we get some actual income to pay for web hosting :-).

BTW, Morvlon 3.00 costs $25.00 at www.oahat.org/morvlon, which does not yet exist but soon will, and my bio was deleted because some parts of it may have been taken wrong by some people who may be looking to dig stuff up.
