I'm in the 1-10 category, but I plan to vote for PLENTY more when I don't have so many things going on with school and all...

I am in the 50-100 category. I say we should form a league and rate every single one of kmartian's 83(+) BASIC programs (and his Doors{OS|CS} crap) 1.

Mmm... I'd say only vote "1" for the ones that deserve a 1 rating. Some are better than 1, so you might as well be honest with your votes. The point of the rating system isn't to sabatoge other authors (or to give them just 10s). It's to give an honest rating of each file, despite who wrote it.

Who ever thought I'd be the good guy on here? LOL

However, I don't think that any of his programs (with the exception of Civilization) deserve anything higher than 1. Civilization deserves a 9 for the 3d engine, but it is incredibly slow.

High Five for being the good guy. Kerm has taken a lot of crap from you guys (not addressed to no_one anymore) and I think you should give him some credit. Sure, he may be mainly a BASIC programmer, but so am I, and it really is possible to make good BASIC programs. And if you're going to say something about ASM being faster than BASIC, I would like to ask you something: Would you rather program a math program that goes a little bit faster in ASM to spit out an answer if it costs probably hours longer to program? I think not...I could program a BASIC quadform program in probably about 45 seconds, while it isn't even possible to compile and send an ASM program in that amount of time...BASIC has it's high points too...You're welcome Kerm (note the CAPITALIZED name) ;)

Somehow it seems less is really more with BASIC programs; the only way to find out whether or not they are good is to actually try them. I mean, some of those descriptions sound a little too good to be true...i.e. "this GREAT little program provides your TI-8X calculator with many new features!!!! A must download!!!!!!!" But hey, that's just my opinion

I've seen "there are no bugs" in file descriptions here. IMO, it's rather stupid to say something like that about any program.

Well, my vote should be changed now (even though that's not possible), because I decided to go rate a bunch of files because I felt bad. Come on! We're all slacking! Rate some files! I think the rating system could be a huge success once we get enough people rating them. If everybody rated a program after downloading it and evaluating it, most of the files would get ratings pretty quickly (except for some of the larger ones like TI-83+ BASIC). But then again, not all of those BASIC files need ratings, do they? ;-)

Anyway... I just got my results back from the AMC... I MISSED THE AIME BY 0.5 POINTS!!!!!! :'( The thing that makes me REALLY mad is, for one of the answers, I filled in the wrong bubble. That really ticks me off. I know this because I copied down all my answers onto a scrap piece of paper before turning in my test... and after looking at it, I realized I missed one of the easier questions that I knew the correct answer to. Alright, sorry... I'm really mad at myself right now... had to get that out.

man, that sucks.

I took both AMC 10A and AMC 10B, because on 10A I got a 118.5, 1.5 below the cutoff, and on 10B I got 116 because I missed one...and i was so mad. but then at a math contest my math teacher came up to me and said that i qualified for the AIME! it turned out that they lowered the 10A cutoff to 110.

Ahh, the joys of ambiguous questions....

Ooh man... 1.5 is really close too. That really sucks. I hate it when stuff like that happens. Oh well, there's always next year. :( At least you qualified :) The AMC 10A cutoff is usually a bit lower than the AMC 10B cutoff. Maybe the 10A test is harder or something. I've only taken 10B. Anyway, good luck with the AIME :)

thanks...i'll need it
the national average is 3.05 questions right out of 15, so i'm thinking that i won't do very well on it :)
And both AMC 10 and AMC 12 qualifiers take the same AIME, so it's a bunch of calculus and other stuff...and i'm only a sophomore...

Well, the nice part is I get to miss 3.5 periods of school on Tuesday, so i'm happy!

Heh- true, "J'aime"

But the AIME is, I think, the Americans Invitational Mathematics Exam. You have 15 questions, three hours, no calculator (just paper/pencil), and all answers are filled in with those little bubbles (similar to the SAT) and they're integers from 0-999. Pretty neat (if you're into that kinda stuff).

It's not required that you take the AMC but I think it is offered in almost all public schools. And if you make a high enough score you qualify for the AIME.
if you want then go to the sites:

It was only for AMC 10A that the cutoff was lowered to 110: on the 10B the cutoff was still 120, so if you got a 110 on the 10A, you've been gypped...and it's too late because the AIME was today! And i answered six (i'm probably going to get like 3 right)

*laughs* It's really embarrassing...

The one about "Which is a perfect square?"

And they had choices like

98!100!, 99!100!, 99!101!, 100!101!, 99!101!

And the answer was REALLY obvious (99!100! because all integers from 1-99 are squared... and then you have 100, which is already perfect square-- and I knew that, but somehow, I filled in the wrong bubble). I'm still mad at myself for that. 0.5 points. Grrr... That's REALLY irritating.

Anybody get close to a 150? ;-)

I was shooting for about 20 correct. I think I would have had 18, if it weren't for my stupidity :). I just have trouble with filling in little circles. Guess I need to go back to preschool for a while. LOL

And yeah, I always look through the perfect score list, and it's funny how the people who get 150 points are almost always Asian. It's pretty hard to get them all right on a timed test like that. If there was no time limit, then I would have no problem answering them all correctly, but I'm slow. Another thing I realized is, you only have three minutes per problem. For some, that's definitely not enough.
