Minitunes has a great sound for simple music like ringtones, but the quality of wav emulators (although good) isn't compressed well enough for a calc to hold full songs.

CalcMod is the best I think (for 83+ anyway). I have tried many, and was most satisfied by CalcMod :)

That's why I voted for "yes, but no point". Until I can carry around my collection of Bon Jovi songs on my calculator, there's no point for me.

Let's see... well, I've done the "hold your calc upto an AM radio and listen to the noise" thing plenty of times. The intereference sounds cool, but I've not actually been able to get distinct notes/tones out of it. :)

I never could get it to work well for me, either. The calc makes plenty of sounds through the radio, and you can tell when a program is emitting a tone, but with the radio all you hear is a single frequency tone, even if the program is supposed to be emitting different frequencies.

Sound on the TI83+ has earned me over $AU40.00

All you have to do is have someone bet you that you can't get sound on a calculator, then prove them wrong.

It's a very profitable business, especially if you live somewhere where TI's are fairly new (Australia, for example)

The amount of ASM crashes that happen usually only reset the RAM with a 'flick of a battery' to fix it; but when It goes WRONG then you need to find an alternate way to clear the memory and install a new ROM. Sooo annoying when the screen has been rendered useless with glitches and random symbols, not to mention the repetative resets caused be OS faults...

I would, but most of the damage is caused by me....

I do, however, refuse to repair. Like one time, I eraced this idiot's OS because he kept on trying to get programs off me (that I had made, and didn't want him to have). Then, when I was loading the OS back on, I decided to take my TI83+ "For a walk", basically meaning that he HAD to follow me or the cable would come out. It was hilarious. Anyway, to cut a long story short, when the transfer had reached 98%, i "accidently" pulled out the cable :)

It also works when you're talking to people who don't know too much about the calculators. I bet someone (this is in the US) that I could get sound on the calculator. He said it didn't have a sound card and therefor couldn't make sound. He was wrong.

LOL, I never thought of it that way. But isn't that saying that anyone who bets on anything is stupid? Because even betting over a simple game of blackjack has a greater chance of benifiting the dealer than any of the players.

No, it's more like saying that anyone who bets against someone on an unchanging fact (like, if calculators make sound, who the 23rd president was, when the hundred years war was fought...) is stupid. Chance gambling, where neither side has any idea who is going to win, isn't very smart either when playing against the "house".

I understand what you mean. But what I'm saying is that if you suggest a bet, you are sure that you will make money. And Las Vegas isn't gonna close its doors to gamblers anytime soon.

Yeah, that's because their brains have been contaminated by crappios :)
