I always use the black link, since I have three. Everybody else at school uses a USB link. Does the USB even work with TI-Graph Link? I think it's faster than TI-Connect, and it's easier to use, IMO.

Yea, I think the USB link does work with GraphLink2 for PC, but TI Connect for mac is practically all the PC GraphLinks merged together, and supports all linkable models. I know USB links work with GraphLink2 for mac as well, but I use TIConnect in that case.

2.5 beta 5 does not support the USB link. Maybe the next version will, but you'll have to wait a bit for it. (VTI 3 is currently being developed, but from what I've heard, it will take at least some months before it's finished.)
In the meantime, you could look at TiLP.

TiLP works the best. And yes, I have found that TI-GraphLink works better than TI-Connect. However, in all, a lot comes down to which link you use. I consistantly get a 3x+ faster transfer with my black link in comparison to my USB. And its not even my computer; a friend of mine gets better with his black and not his USB. I don't know why because the USB ports have a faster transfer speed.

I have used TI-GraphLink, TI-Connect, and TiLP, and out of those TiLP ranks first. Although you have to use a different driver if you like the USB link, it is still worth it. I like it to start with a certain folder so I also changed the default folder to open to in the ini file. The best part of it is it gives you control of everything - from whatever cord, to whatever wait times, to whatever tranfer tuning, even to the OS you prefer. Every one should at least try it out for two weeks and then go back to TI-GraphLink or TI-Connect. The only thing it doesn't do is making TI-Basic programs and that is no big loss.

It's just Win2KPro + Added server tools. We run a server here at school, we set it up ourselves (and are by no means professionals!) and it works like a dream - we even have an FTP & HTTP server running on it to serve 6 machines :)
It acts as a gateway to the school proxy to get us our beloved internet connection.
We have 1 Lisucks box, but it never seems to be working! (It's always having to be reinstalled). I never touch it. All the other machines are Win2KPro+1 XP Pro.

If Linux needs constant reinstalling someone isn't setting it up properly. Tell them to get O'Reilly's Linux in a Nutshell. It should be very useful.

Um....did You just say Linsucs? My school (a rich magnet school hehehe) has an entire lab of Linux computers all on a LAN connected to a group of about 5 Linux servers. They work like a dream unlike the crappy Win2k server in the corner nobody ever uses. Not only that but Windows servers are a laughing stock of security, its best to use Linux. Don't insult Linux becasue you're too incompetent to understand it (and its superiority). Anyway...like somebody else said, look on websites to figure out what's wrong wit your Linux box...you'll be happy when your website is saved from hacking.

btw...unless your a graphic artist, etc. Mac SUCKS!

You know, most people who like Linsux and hate Windows don't have a valid reason for not liking Windows. If you get a good Windows OS, you'll be fine.

Yes, and Macs do suck... I don't like the interface... and no compatible software (*ahem* same problem with Linsux)

I personally use a black link w/ my oldschool TI-86 since TI didnt think about my small calculator community when they made TI-connect.

Anyways for the mac vs. pc battle, go look at the link above. Its pretty funny.

Why? Or are you just making an uneducated claim?

I will agree that Mac OS 9 and below sucked. OS X, however, is based on BSD, and will run X11 (the x window system), so I don't see anything wrong with it.

The Unaltered Truth about Mac vs Microsoft
JcN  Account Info

Mac OS and Mac products are known for their usefulness and resilience, but Microsoft OS's and products are known for speed and for more software support. It just depends on what you're looking for: If you value quality machinary and software over tons of compatability, then use a mac. If you value the ability to use all of your software and future software with great ease and being able to avoid a lot of compatability issues over more frequent crashes, but cheaper and/or easier repairs and more upgradability, then use Microsoft. I would have an iMac or a G4 right now because of their stream-lined OS, but my parents all have Microsoft computers and my dad especially did not want me having to deal with limited hardware and software compatability, so I have a Compaq Presario 6000 using Windows XP Home Edition instead. Truthfully, I don't care, because they both have workable advantages.

I like that skin 'cos of the extra buttons it wedges in next to the clock: on the right hand side it adds transparency, shrink to system tray, display properties, WindowBlinds, &c and on the left it holds some shortcuts.

Those shortcuts is your "quicklaunch" bar. Basically a folder named "quick launch" that has shortcuts in it. You don't need winblinds to have it.

If you want a budget 'idiot' proof box, and don't mind lack of stability, go IBM compatible with M$.
Else, get a Mac (costs more, less software on market, but is a really good machine.)
