Hey! Henrik's back! Anyway, I've looked through the archives before, but not very often. If they were more popular, they'd probably be slightly more useful.

I am working 100% behind the scenes you know. Lately spending all awaken time on behind-the-scenes ticalc.org work.

Henrik has never left. Honestly, this site would probably fall apart without him with the work he's done.

We need an annual Henrik Appreciation Day around here or something. Seriously. The credit:work ratio is staggeringly low.

On a on-topic sidenote, what happened to the Assembly-83 list ?? I've been trying to subscribe, but it seems to be gone. This is what I get when I use the list command:

I am new at asm programing but can someone please tell me how and where to get the files to compile asm files to my ti-89 calc. Thanks

Anyway, I'd suggest you download TIGCC, it's in the windows archives somewhere. It should be good for TI-89/92+ C and asm.

Hehe, I downloaded it a while ago. I'm just too lazy to get around to learning... But I do know people at my school with 89s that haven't downloaded it yet. One of them has had his for about 2 years and he just learned how to do the solve function. (No joke!)

*sigh* There are so many calculator-illiterate people in this world...

Oh yeah, and also, you better have a link cable and graph-link or you can't send it to your calc (but you probably knew that)

well... you /can/ view it on the computer with with a hex editor and generate it by using the char(#) command in a looping BASIC program... there's a program for the 85 that uses strings like that (except that it uses lists instead of typing in the numbers one at a time...)

You could also use an emulator... (or is that what you mean?)

Don't bother. Download TIGCC and learn C instead of assembly. (C is vastly easier and more applicable). Also, get TI-Connect for sending files to your calc. TIGCC can be found here under Windows Assembly Utilities. TI-Connect can be found at http://education.ti.com

In order to save memory, just e-mail me if you have problems with it.

If he wants to learn assembly, do not disuade him. There are few enough assembly programmers as it is. C may be good and all, but you will never get the speed and power with it that you get out of well written assembly code.

It is possible to optimize C for both speed and power equal to that of a skilled ASM programmer. In fact, you can optimize C so much that it cannot be further optimized by replacing it with an inline.

eh. Most commands in TIGCC are at least two or three opcodes in ASM. I say we take a cue from Dilbert's boss and cut down on code size by deleting all those useless zeroes and keeping the ones ;-)

lol, I wonder what a program with all 'FF's would do? Probably either nothing or it would crash :)

I've often wondered about weird stuff like that. Like, what if you made a program that created an executable file with random binary in it? And then you ran it? That'd be so weird...

It will crash with "Line 1111 Emulator".

Or, on AMS >= 2.07, if you don't put the two 00 bytes at the end, you will get an error dialog: "Invalid relocation data in ASM program".

Actually No. Tigcc for 68k is not the same as gcc for an intel/AMD processor.

I asked him to e-mail me if he has anymore problems to save memory because if he posted more help messages, it would drastically increase the size of this page, making it slower to download. Maybe "memory" was a poor choice of words.
