Re: LZ: Teleconferece: accel

The speed slows down when a non turboed calc connects to a turboed calc
not because it works at a certain speed. It is because after each bit
is sent the sending calc waits for confirmation. If it is a turbowed
calc the receiving calculator can poll the link port cfaster so that the
link goes faster. But it doesn't maintain a fixed speed like modems do.
THe speed of the processor is the speed of the link. Unlike on the PC
where the speed of the modem is the speed of the transmission. That's
why on the pc to maintain reliable data transmission at high speeds an
interrupt serial routine is used instead of a polling routine. Modems
don't wait for processed confirmation they just store the bit in a buffer
and go on..
