Christmas status update

Merry Christmas to all those of you who do that kind of stuff. Happy Holidays to those who don't. Just Happy In General to those who don't even get a holiday. Now for a quick status update: - We've closed voting on the program of the year. Results will be announced in the beginning of next year.
- As some of you may have noticed, we've updated our RSS feeds. This includes shaping up the one we always had to conform to new standards, as well as adding three completely new feeds. More will be added on request. We've also added a page describing the process of syndication.
- Finally, we've been doing a lot of behind-the-scenes updates on our news and comment handling system. While most of these changes have been purely backend and behind the scenes, the first parts are now showing up as advantages for you as the end user. So far, the one large thing is that the five minute delay after posting is gone. Instead, new postings are generally up less than 10 seconds after the comment was posted. There will be a longer delay at times when the server is loaded. More changes in this system are planned - stay tuned.
- Oh, there's a new survey up.

this is great magnus. the 10 second thing is really nifty, xept i hav to refresh the page twice to wait for it to load. (i love fast internet.) but its better than sitting there and waiting for 5 minutes, then checking to see if there are any updates on the page. ths should also prompt much more rapid discussions and allow people to keep their train of thought more while discussing.

Thanks for fixing the lag on comment posting, Magnus... even if it does slow down a little under heavy loads, it'll still be better than waiting five minutes.

Another Christmas Update - Retirement

This is William White. I updated my TI-Basic Porter to be much faster, produce smaller files, and be less of an annoyance. I've also done a few other updates and released a helpful Cross Compatible text for graphics on the 89, 92+, and V200. The best news, and for some, well overdue...I'm retiring from TI programming. That means no new projects, only improving old ones and perhaps helping others here and there. I'm not quitting RBP2 and will continue as it's archivist. I DO plan to write children's books on various subjects and start a real life as a free-lance web designer. Hopefully things will go well and my sanity returns. Thank you all for your (im)patience, it's been inspiring in different ways. Merry Christmas to all, and thanks for your time.
