Ice Hockey 68k Released
Posted by Michael on 5 December 2003, 13:39 GMT

[Ice Hockey]Travis Fischer has released an incredible game for the 89/92+/Voyage 200, Ice Hockey 68k. This full-featured game has exhibition, tournament, shoot-out, and practice play among 31 NHL teams. It is player versus calculator, calculator versus calculator, or player versus player in linked multiplayer mode. There are slew of other details to this game that enhance the realism, such as different player types. Face-off!

I actually stopped doing file archiving after adding this file, so I could go play it. :-) There are a few minor issues with the gameplay, but I would say it's one of the best games to come out in a long time.

They should make some sorta list or page in the archives for all the best/classic games.

You know all those old menu based games for the TI83?
well nobody has a ti83, they have ti83+'s; well anyways, people used to have those games like beerhunt, drugwars, bowling... No wonder I couldn't find them here, I was looking in the TI83+ files! maybe some of those ti83 games that work on the 83+ should also be listed in the 83+ archives?

Most of them are, in fact, listed under both the TI-83 and TI-83+, since the TI-83+ can correctly render all TI-83 commands.

I was referring to BASIC programs.
For ASM, yes, you need to port and recompile.

I noticed that. When I saw the article, I thought, "Now that is it featured, I wonder if it will be an option for POTY?"

I downloaded it @ around 8 o'clock last night, I come back to the college campus and "oh!, there's a news article on it, that was quick." Anyway, since everybody else was talking about the quick response time from the ticalc news department, I thought I'd share my experience as well.

The real reason I came to the message board is that I'd like to congradulate the author(Fisch) of this fine prg-game and to report a side note:

"This is really great game, it must have taken @ least year or two to develop. However, the players do flicker a lil' but over-all, a great game!"

You can disregard the previous post I made about 30sec. ago, I posted it and forgot to add something. Thx.

No, it did not take me a year to make. It would, however, have taken a lot longer than a year to make if I had not had such great help from the TI community. I worked on it in September and October and then used November for private Beta Testing.

Wow, my favorite game from the ol Nintendo years [I still have and play this game on the original] is no on 68k series. I may just have to pull out my v200. Maybe now is when I should pull out those sprites I made for this a while back.... I had the menu system too... just no game play. What a slacker I am. Congrats to the author, great lookin game!

"Pull out" your v200? What? Do you not use it? You darn well can give it to me if you want...I've been wanting one since they came out but I can't get one because I already have an 89... :(

You'll practically ditch your 89 if you get a V200. Sure I occacionally use it, but since my 89 is HW1 and the V200 has 92% more screen realistate and 4.16x more archive I use it more often. It should be renamed form PLT to PGT, Personal Gamming Tool.

It's nice, since it holds almost all the asm games there is. And I even have quite a few basic programs on it....and that is without the XPand patch that give it more memory/ram/free space! It's awesome. But definately a Gaming tool!

I beg to differ... even though I have a V200, I only use my 89. The V200 is just too bulky for me.

Same here. Now how am I suppsed to press the space bar in Phoenix for the special weapon?! Another reason I don't use it as often is because some of my games don't even bother to use the entire screen. I just get a little square the size of an 89 screen. I really on use my V200 for the ocassional typing of notes.

Well, since his TI-89 is a HW1... that makes all the difference. The HW2 is infinitely better than the HW1... :(

Heh, I know what it's like... my old calc (the one that, I'm sure everybody knows by now, was stolen) was HW2. The one I have now is HW1. Huge difference. Mostly in memory and speed, but there are other differences, like with the timer stuff (seconds, days, etc).

Well in response, yeeep. you went on for about three months at least about your stolen property [which drove some of us crazy to no end]. Once I get a laptop, I'm considering buying a HW2 89. My HW1 will not go into the trash but will be carefully stored. Its link port is tempromental to say the least, but it is in very good condition considering it was purchased shortly after they were released.

The link port thing happened to me as weel. Aparently the two contacts (I think it is D1 and D2) came unsoddered from the mother board. I have to put tension on the cord in the upward direction for it to work.

Sheesh. People like you give me a reason to be a grammar and spelling nazi.

4.16x more archive would be 5.16x the total archive space.
1x + 4.16x = 5.16x .
