Program of the Year Voting Opens
Posted by Michael on 2 December 2003, 10:18 GMT

Sample POTY WinnerWe all know how many people missed the Program of the Month awards that were previously held. Well now there's something even more prestigious: the 2003 Program of the Year award. Throughout the month of December, featured programs from throughout the year will be classified by calculator in weekly surveys. Simply vote for your favorite program! Every Monday a new survey will be posted with a different set of programs. The results will be hidden until all the winners are determined.

The ticalc.org 2003 Programs of the Year will be announced early January once all the results have been tabulated. As before with the POTM winning programs, a specialized screenshot will be provided for the winners. Good luck to all contestants!

Update (Morgan): This is only relevant because there are two Mario pictures on this article, but for anyone that has ever played the original Super Mario Brothers 3 on NES and thought you were good, you need to see this!

Update (Joey): The poll for the 68k calculators has been posted.

If you prefer grayscale games above black&white games on your ti83(+), and you like tech advances, this is your thing :) A grayscale game currently finished is Repton, a port by Ben Ryves of the old arcade game. Games currently under development are:
- The Core of Light, RPG by Smitemeister Software
- Fate by Fire, RPG by Justin Wales and
- Desolate, adventure by tr1p1ea
For info about the last two projects, come to our forum at the Maxcoderz message board (see my url). Happy voting!

:) Thanks for the plug!
I must correct you, Repton was a BBC Micro game, not an arcade game... And Superior Software, the company that made it, still exist (but now as Superior Interactive) and were "re-founded" by the original founder, who expressed a fair interest in my port.
They're developing a new version of Repton for PC.

I can beat Super Mario World in less than 8 minutes. I can only do it on the gba though because you can save in between each level. :). You couldn't do that on the snes one. I should make a movie of it. I haven't actually seen this guy's movie, so hes probably a lot better than i am. The only reason i can beat super mario world so fast is because of star road, so i only beat 12 levels.

Umm, I think you're a bit mistaken. You are talking about Super Mario _World_. The movie is someone beating Super Mario _3_. Actually, I didn't even know they made Mario World for GBA. I loved it on snes, though.
