TI-Reader App Available
Posted by Michael on 4 September 2003, 05:04 GMT
TI has released TI-Reader, a new concept app available for the 89 and the 92+/Voyage 200. TI-Reader is a text reader that works in conjunction with the TI-Reader Converter software to convert text, HTML, and Open eBook files into viewable documents for your calculator. In addition to the different font sizes and image (black and white) support, it provides for highlighting, bookmarks, and even annotating the text with your own notes. As alluded to in the app description, this is part of TI's plan to expand the usage of their calcuator into liberal arts classes.

Now all I need to become a 100% V200 user is a way to port pdfs and a full internet browser. Everything else is set up. Memory, displaying screens on the TV, word processing, presentations, email, games falling out the windows, media playing, printers (EPSON LX-800 @ $25.00), GUI, TCP-IP, interface, etc. Here we come, Microsoft! Monopolize-out this!

You'd be amazed what you can do with QB. Really. You can have a lot of fun with... practical jokes. ;-)
But yeah, QB can theoretically do anything that's allowed in a DOS setting like that. You just need to know which ports and junk to output to. I do know, for a fact, that you can restart the computer with QB. Shutting it down probably isn't much different.
Just for another pointless examples of direct input/outport from the ports... in QB, there is a MUCH better alternate to the INKEY$ function. You can use INP(&H60) to get the keybuffer (sorta). Since I bet most people in here don't care about QB, I won't get detailed, unless, of course, you want me to.
Either way, the point is... QB is good for practical jokes in the autoexec.bat file. :)
