ticalc.org Celebrates 7th Anniversary
Posted by Joey on 19 June 2003, 21:28 GMT

On June 21st, 2003, ticalc.org will celebrate its 7th anniversary. To commemorate this event, we will be offering "While-You-Wait" archiving service from 15:00 to 17:00 GMT on the 21st. Any files uploaded via our Upload Form during this time will be added within a few minutes, provided they fit our Site Policies and don't require special attention. Use the Time Zone Converter to convert GMT to your local time. Happy aniversary, ticalc.org!

Update (Joey): While-You-Wait was a great success. Thanks to all who participated!

I am not really clear what is that "While-you-wait" service.
Isn't file upload already a pretty speedy process? Or am I mistaken?
Happy birthday, nevertheless, to ti-calc.org.

Yeah, we've got the turnaround at 48 hours or less, but we thought it'd be kinda fun for people to upload a file and then wait for it to show up on the front page. ;-)

Where the cake? We need streamers and balloons!

Happy Birthday!

This arching thing sounds cool... but they're already pretty fast at uploading the archives already, right?

Though I think Voyage 200 are great, let em give us 83+ SE's. Even though it doesnt have the functins of the Voyage 200, there are always apps and other programs to fix that. Maybe someone can get the code for the OS, modify it, and we'll have a voyage 200 like OS for the 83+ SE for download at ticalc.org!!! Imaginge that for a second, someone at school showing up with a voyage 200, saying its the best one ever, then you whipping out your 83+ SE with the modded OS, and prove to him that his voyage sucks. Hmm, integrated MirageOS, 3D Graphing, Algebra and Calculus problem solving functions, and, hmm, the Dark Basic Programming Language that compiles right into the machine code and run it like an ASM program!! But, its only my imagination saying this. So it probably wont happen.

the 83+SE's are rather buggy and have shoddy linkports.

Just for the record: modding the OS is illegal. Even if somebody would do it (unlikely), you won't be able do download it from ticalc, simply because they'd never upload the file.

Actually you don't (unless the laws are wierd in your country)a copy of the TIOS. They give you a LICENCE to use the TIOS. And they also reserve the right to revoke the licence if you do something that is prohibited, such as modifying the OS.

Yes you can. However, you do not own software. You lease it. If modifying the OS is against the lease, then it's illegal.

That would be nice.... but if they're going to give out a calculator, it should be a TI-89 ;-) (they're the best)

But most people have them anyway...

Ah, heck, I'll take any calc they give us! (I could have TWO TI-82s!)

I emailed TI about making your own operating system, they said "we do not provide the tools for making your own OS"
