Calcwars Released
Posted by Michael on 25 May 2003, 15:17 GMT

Andy Hou has released a strategy game for the 92 Plus/Voyage 200, called Calcwars. Players build units, move them, attack the opponent's units, capture buildings, etc. A future version will have a calculator AI player available.

Update: The 89 version can now be downloaded.

TI Resource CD, TiLP from the Windows link section here on ticalc.org, GraphLink software from education.ti.com, or TI Connect from there as well. Anyone else think of some others?

I don't know. I used to use the ti-graphlink, but over time I have grown fond of ti-connect. Thah and the fact that I have to use ti-cnnect with the USB link.

Yeah, definitely go with the TI-89. Go for the games, the tests (you can use it, not the TI-92+/v200), and because RCT said so ;-)

For the tests get an 89 otherwise a V200. With the Release of Sim all the games on the 89 should be able to be run on the 92+ and V200.

It crashed a couple of times on mine when you got to the cannon level, but I can't replicate it. If you did bult in crash prevention and had it exit the program then it works fine.

Well, don't want to say too much, considering how it's still in early development, but this has similar graphics to turn-based strategy RPG I'm making. It too will have 4 level greyscale. If anyone wants any more information, sign up for an account at www.nexusprograms.net. After doing so click on the "Forum" button on the upper-lefthand corner. On the Projects section click on "Shining Force: The Legend Returns". Post your questions, comments, etc. there. By the way, I need to get a 92+. Oh well...

I'm not making a game but a utility of sorts. I call it Link View (Exchange is copyrighted by Microsoft) and I plan on having it make Var-Link obsolete. If it is possible I will make it so it can talk to Var-Link in addition to itself I'm not saying more till I get more completed. The program is cross compatible with the 89, 92+, and V200.

Maybe in an advanced version. This is my first C project. I am definately going to support multiple folder viewing. I can fit 3 folders on the 89 and 4 on the 92+/V200. I'll release a working, bug free (at least 90%), version when I get to the point where the user can view and select files and where you can see an artificial transfer screen.

I didn't know you could do directory-type commands in C. LOL (I meant, like, getting all the names of the files in a certain folder, etc.)

I just need to get the stuff working. There still is alot of advanced structures I don't understand which is key to getting this program to work.

ASM... I never used it, so I never knew... *cry*

Can you do that in QB?

I've been programming less time than you and I knew that was possible :( Oh well

I've never used QB before. I've have limited experience with C++ which has help me a lot with learning C, I can do so many useless things with TI-BASIC, and VB was quite simple to understand though I have never personally used that. If all goes well I should have approximately 1/3 to 1/2 of my program complete next week.
