83+ Puzzle Games Released
Posted by Michael on 4 February 2003, 06:12 GMT

Two puzzle games have been released for the 83+. The first, FinnPack by Andreas Finne, is a flash application collection of Dots and Towers of Hanoi, both classic games.

Joe Pemberton and Joel Seligstein have released Dr. Mario as an Ion game for the 83/83+. Modeled after the NES version, this is sure to bring you infectious hours of virus killing fun.

Update: Screenshot added.

This program looks good!
...and good thing they're hiring again so people can get all the other "good" :) programs in the pending queue.

A suggestion for Magnus or Michael:
What if you put a counter like the one on the file upload page right under the heading "Recent Additions" that showed both the total number of files in the archives and the number of pending files?? Just a suggestion.

RECENT ADDITIONS TO OUR ARCHIVES
[italic]28374 files, 1038 pending[/italic]

Click # for detailed information about a file.
# indicates files with screenshots.
# indicates files with animated screenshots.
# indicates featured programs.

You know what, we used to have that... I have no idea why/when that was removed :-) I might add it back sometime when I have time for a quick hack.

I'd rather have how many files were uploaded that day instead of how many total files :)

How much memory the 83+ puzzle games take?
I looks very cool...
hey, I know it's off topic, but my 83+ SE has a 2 MB Flash chip, what if I take the one that is in my pocket digital camera who has 8 MB (I got one new with 16 MB), would it work without problems?

No. First of all, the interface is wrong. The calc flash chip is hardwired in, where the digital cam chip is designed to be removable. Also, the Ti-os is designed to work with the specific rom chip that ti put in there, so it wouldn't recognize other brands.

I think he'd be safer with Ahmed - didn't he construct a PlayStation memory card-to-calc adapter? I never built one, but it looked rather cool.

Actually, that was Sami Khawam. He's the same one who made the IR Link. I have all the parts to build an IR Link, but I don't have a programmer for the PIC chips. Argh. If I get one, though, I think I might start selling kits. :o)

I have a PICStart plus (the official MicroChip programmer) but none of the other parts (or effort). What PIC does it use?

I'm not certain, but I think it's the PIC16F84. If I sent you some chips, would you program 'em for me?

Yup.
We use 16F84 (or 16F84A(?)) chips here. I can program the 17F877 and 12C508A in ASM (badly), but we use PIC Basic at school.

I'll probably start with something easier to get the hang of it :) I'd probably have better luck re-writing the code. And if I re-wrote it... it would be BAD (I'm not a *quality* ASM writer, you know, hehe)

That would be cool, but it would probably produce bulky code (like C to ASM, but worse).
