what exactly does this make us have to do?

i think the focus of the ticalc.org staff should be getting new files in to the archives - it's been on 'heavy' for months now... and there are a lot of people who WON'T upload anything unless it's moderate or minimal because they know that by the time it makes it to the archives, they'll have a new version of the program.... either get new archivers (i'd even volunteer for that).. or get everyone to work on it.

I had jumped on the calc.org bandwagon, but then when I submitted a link they refused to link to my site because it was too confusing or something. I have also had a long wait with ti-fr.org so I do not think I'll bother uploading with them again.

So why is it that nobody uploads to calc.org? thier program management utilities are excellent and updates are near instantaneous.

For example, I can't upload TIGCC because it exceeds the maximum file size. I've sent a lot of mail back and forth because of this, but they don't really seem to care; they just told me what was wrong but didn't actually fix anything. So there!

And if you put something in wrong, it messes up the whole upload. It should all be on one page--the author login, file upload, and file information.

Hey, I am Joseph Eichinger from the calc.org staff. I'm sorry we havn't got TIGCC uploaded, but Adam is the only staff member that can upload programs bigger than the allowed HTML upload size. If i could upload it, I would, I have tried multiple time to upload it with different compression methods, i even tried to split the file and upload them seperately. Adam is VERY busy, there are things ive asked him to do that he hasn't gotten done yet, and many times he ignores me cause he is busy. We have only 3 staff members there. I'm sorry for all the things that get lost in the mail and stuff like that, the only mail i get is support and joe@calc.org. I'll ask him again, but it probably won't happen anytime soon :(

I'm guessing it's near instantaneous because:
a) The programs aren't checked thoroughly for content
b) Few people use this, and so upload speed is quick.
c) I had a choice c, but I can't remember it anymore
d) All of the above

Salc.org is really stupid. None of the "most downloaded" sections work, and most of the other sections don't work either. And many of the programs in the archives don't work. And I have no clue what the new programs are, and whether or not the "featured downloads" are new or not. And I noticed that the calc.org news and ticalc.org news are mostly identical (who's copying who?). And it's really slow and stupid.

If u have a problem with our site, just post it on our site, don't be posting all this crap on ticalc.org!
We have a total staff of 3 people, and we are all VERY busy. Most of the sections don't work because of the recent server switch. I'm sorry if you really want to use the "Top Ten" feature. It works on individual programs (One of mine is #7). Just the page itself doesn't. And neither me nor nate know php so we cannot do anything to the site. We also do not have the source to work on it with. Adam is the only one who has access to most of the major things. And, right now we are working on getting all the staff utilities to work (Link accepting, News post editing...). Although the upload thing has a few problems, it is mostly fast and easy to use. If u have any specific questions, just ask us. I cannot garuntee that everyones requests will get done, or that none will get "lost". I wish we could live up to everybodys expectations, but with such a small staff, it is very hard.

As far as news goes calc.org is very good. Lately they have been beating every body including ti-news in getting news out.

Actually, yes. Apparently some guy from Calc.org has been reading the comments. He left two comments. The second one is in defense of Calc.org (apparently some person insulted Calc.org).

Reading a public forum is *hardly* spying. Calc.org staff and members are as welcome here as anyone else! It's not like we're rivals or warring or anything. We're both just sources of information for this crazy world of programmable scientific graphing calculators! :)

I don't really have anything against calc.org . I just think it's strange that people think your sites are in competition with each other. Wake up, guys... you can't really be in competition if you're not making any sort of profit off of it. These sites are totally free... it's like saying that Google and Yahoo! are competing. Sure, they're two search engines, but their services are virtually identical and often are based upon each others' software and scripts!

Actually, for a while Yahoo! was powered by Google. I'm not sure why it isn't any more, Google is still the biggest search engine. Anyway, now it is powered by Compaq, and Google and Yahoo! have identical directories because they both get it from the Open Directory Project (dmoz.org).

I've always been curious, how does Google make money? At Yahoo! they sell stuff and have adds, but Google has very few adds, and everything else is free.
