TI-83+ OS v1.14, TI-73 OS v1.60 Released
Posted by Eric on 16 December 2001, 01:28 GMT

Okay, so I've gotten a couple dozen emails today from everybody and their dog about the new TI-83+ OS v1.14. Nothing obviously new is included, except that this version includes support for the new TI-Connect software (more on that in a few minutes).

In other news, TI has also released OS update v1.60 for the TI-73.

Who cares about the 73? How about an 89/92+ AMS update!?

Of course there will be a 89/92P update. You'll just have to be a bit more patient, eh? You could take this as a good sign you know. It's possible that TI was able to release the updated 73 and 83P OS's so quickly because all they were going to modify was the TI-Connect nonsense. Perhaps they're going to add more to the 68K update? Or not.

I would be happy even if they took out some things, such as the restrictions, and fixed the several bugs that have accumulated. Of course it would be great if they added some new functionality... something... anything!

I do! I care about the 73! I didn't even knew it had a shell, though. ;)

The vast majority of graphing calcs have an OS. The rest are paper-tape calulators that have the little paper strip go roll-to-roll through a window. (Or HP's :) )

I don't think you want another 89/92+ update. That will just give us more work in making the HW2 patch compatible with ams 2.06

My cockatiel can push the keys on the keyboard, but I don't think she is smart enough to write an e-mail :(

True, the OS update dosen't have new features, but it does defragment the calculator about 2X faster. I wonder when they will actually release updates with new features?

Probably as soon as they find some new feature that's in demand enough to be added. They've probably been focusing on getting the TI-connect out by the end of the year for the past few months. The only things they could bother to add now would be The other trig functions (sec, csc, etc.) and symbolic manipulation, which are both released in Detatched Solutions new Flash Application. Unless there a pressing need for something new, TI will take their time developing anything new for the 83+

I wished they added more funtionality to the OS updates. I see no improvment. Oh, well. Maybe next time?

Ever since I downloaded The TI-83+ OS 1.14, my calculator has been crashing like crazy. I can't immediately blame this on the OS, because I also installed the StudyCards Flash App. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem. It happened once when I was playing Super Mario v1.2, ZTetris v1.0, and one of my own BASIC programs, which was a small and simple 600b game. This all happened in one day. (BTW, I was using MirageOS). Luckily, I backed most of my files up into the archive. But I still lost some of my work. Just a warning to you 83+ users, back up your files just to be safe. I'd hate to see anyone lose their work!

Problems with the OS...
Chickendude  Account Info

Well, I haven't noticed any problems with the new 1.14 OS on my 83+ or my SE. What calculator are you using? (Is it just the regular ol' 83+ or is it the regular not ol' SE). I've noticed that Tetris crashes my calc on the SE and sometimes my 83+ on the old Os's. Mario usually doesn't crash, so I don't know why it did. Sometimes, I've noticed that when I run a program it'll just make my calculator unstable (I guess you could call it that) and when I do something like, say, run a program it'll crash. All I know is that I haven't had any problems except for my regular ones:)
I hope I helped! (But I probably didn't!)
