ZiLOG Files for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Protection
Posted by Eric on 7 December 2001, 23:07 GMT
ZiLOG, the esteemed company that brought us the Z80 processor, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. TI's TI-8x line of calculators (except the TI-89), of course, uses a processor based on the ZiLOG Z80 (as well as many other ancient computers such as the ol' TRS-80). More information can be found at the Electronics Times.

This is a terrible thing. I'm truely worried, all those hours we spent (days for some of us;) are truely at risk of being wasted. I have confidence in TI, though.

you guys are freeking out about nothing... zilog BROUGHT the z80 processor... OTHER people make it as well... and they aren't even going to stop production - they are dividing it up in to shares.. and they can still trade with other companies. paranoid psychos.
