Thomas Nussbaumer Updates
Posted by Andy on 4 August 2001, 17:37 GMT

Well, I don't post much news, but here goes: Joel Thompson writes that Thomas Nussbaumer has updated the ebook reader to TICT eBook-Reader v1.80. He has also released TIGCC Tools Suite v0.99.10 Official Beta . The ebook reader contains a correction to a bug which caused a crash if 'x' followed by '=' was pressed.

Update (Nick B.): Also from Thomas, the ExtGraph library for TI-GCC was updated, as well as a new game! TI-TimeWaste, for both the 89 and 92+, is a game where one tries to get five pieces in a row in any direction, but every time you move a piece that does not result in a line, 3 new pieces appear.

There is also a new version of the ExtGraph library (Windows Assembly Utilities) waiting in your file archive queue as well as a new game called TI-TimeWaste (TI-89/TI-92p Assembly Games). Actually the files can be downloaded only from the TiCT-HQ at http://tict.ticalc.org

Finally ticalc updates... I haven't seen anything on the Assembly-86 newsletter in over a week either. What's up with all this?

Hmmm. Assembly 83 cut off too, with some threads of discussion still un-concluded. Wierd.

Maybe they have some kind of positive feedback loop:
If you make good programs, your's get downloaded often,
if your files get downloaded often, they get posted faster, so more people download them,
and so on, and so on

7 level grayscale on HW2 89?

I know my comment isn't supposed to be here, I just didn't know where else to ask this question and have it answered. Well, some people such as author of graphlib claim that 7 level grayscale is possible on HW2 is this true? I just haven't found anything to confirm this, so I'm asking you all.
Thanks.

Technically, it's not true 8-level grayscale (white is the 8th gray level). It's a combination of four black-and-white buffers, each displayed two-at-a-time for a very brief time in a loop. In nearly the same way that BASIC programmers can attempt to make grayscale by showing two pictures repeated very quickly, Assembly and C programmers can simulate 8-level grayscale.

I know that. The only thing I don't understand is why it works on HW1 and doesn't on HW2?

Re: Re: Re: 7 level grayscale on HW2 89?

from what i remember, it is because the video memory (or memory access, i don't remember which 89 has) is accessed via a different chip on HW2, which causes a timing conflict.
then again, maybe i'm making it up without knowing, you've been warned...
