Advanced Text Editor v1.0 Released
Posted by Eric on 27 April 2001, 00:57 GMT

ATE v1.0Yup, it's true. Jonah Cohen's popular all-purpose editor for the TI-86, Advanced Text Editor, has reached the big one-point-oh release. That means it's out of beta stage, for you slow ones. New in this version is a complete restructuring New and Open menus, a shortcut to frequently typed items, default source files, auto-indenting, and a whole lot more.

Hey after typing on those calculators for a year i got used to it. I can type on my calculator faster than I can right. Thnks Jonah. It's so much easier to read my files with your editor than it is to read and type into a basic program for my notes. Also I'm glad you included ZAC support in your editor that's awesome.

One word pretty much sums this program up:

Wow. It looks really cool. Keep up the good work man. I wonder if there's anything like it for the 83+...

Great work indeed. I wish more people used ZAC (my Z80 Assembler for those who don't know), with such a great on-calc editor.

I use it sometimes, and it's a great program, but not on my calc. Only on my emulator with ROM v1.3.
I've found that every ASM program seems to have my version of the (1.6) ROM. I'm not sure if I have a newer version than all the programmers, but there are only a select few that like my calc. I don't know if there is a compatability problem for different ROM versions, but my calc has never liked much else than Phoenix

Woo hoo! Eighth post! Anyway, I believe that the "Anatomy" program is totaly inapropriate and I would like to see it removed from the archives. It is explicitly pornographic, and I actually loked at one of the pictures believing it to be an actual anatomy program with a wierd name. It should at least have a name change.

That post is full of spelling mistakes, and I know it. I am in a hurry.

Is that menu part of the TI-OS or is it part of the program?

It's part of the program. I just arbitrarily chose fifteen of the most commonly typed things for Basic programs, Textview files, and Asm source files and put them in a menu. Suggestions for alternatives to put in the menu are certainly welcome :-)

Let's see...

Open up MVC.89z in Notepad and...
Lo and behold, the words 'Marvel versus capcom for ti-89
' repeated thousands of times.

Ronald Lightfoot, I commend you for your incredible stupidity.

Hey everyone, apparently you can program the world's best arcade games in calculator form simply by typing their names thousands of times! Let's do this for every single one, ok? Maybe not.

God. This is getting annoying.

Oh, and by the way, he said in the readme to download 'DeLib' again. Maybe TIcalc's people should just deny him and Joel any files he posts with that nonexistent library in the Readme... since both so far have been stupid pranks.

Surprisingly, though, he did actually submit a real file; Street Fighter 2 v0.4. However, they have a single byte missing from some point in the file (a zero byte which tells the TI-89 where the file starts), so they too are practically useless.

Megaman 89 is a farce too. It's a renamed *.doc file that says "Megaman 89" over and over. What a moron.

How about a new rule- if you post prank files, your account is revoked and your ip is denied?

Sounds like a GREAT idea to me. Maybe they can get rid of that 'anatomy86' guy, too.

Don't be too quick to censor porn and other stuff. It is one thing to remove pranks and fake items, but if a piece of calc porn is clearly labled as porn, it doesn't bother me. You chose for yourself if you want to download it or not.

     29 April 2001, 23:37 GMT

2 things...
bdesham

Yeah, but "Anatomy86" clearly doesn't indicate porn at all.

Also- on a slightly related note- does anyone think that there should be a "Rated X" category in the graphics section for these types of files?

Yeah, you're right. There should be ratings on the games. You know E, T, M, and stuff.
