83Dev Program Beta Released
Posted by Eric on 23 March 2001, 01:36 GMT
Rob Mitchelmore sent me word of an interesting new project he's working on: his own PC-side editor for TI-83 BASIC, called 83Dev. Judging by the screenshots, Rob's program looks a lot easier to use than the TI-Graph Link software. It also has many cool features like code highlighting and label management. So...go check out the beta and be sure to give him some suggestions for future versions. Looks promising!

Wow, nice screenshots! I like the concept. Hmm, is it possible to do the same thing for the 83+?

Ok, now when can we expect 86DEV and 89DEV?

That makes sense, and when you get an 83 version finished go to http://www.ti.com/calc and download the calculator manuals in .pdf format. But between the 83 and 86 most of the functions are the same, but the 86 lacks stddev() and the 83 lacks unit conversions, just to name a few. But Disp, For. . .End, If. . .Then. . .Else. . .End, Goto. . .Lbl, and most other normal functions are the same. The big difference would be the format they're stored in.
The 89 (and 92(+)), on the other hand, uses a similar, but noticeably different syntax (i.e. If. . .Then. . .ElseIf. . .ElseIf. . .Else. . .End) and would be much harder to convert to without your actually having an 89.

Hi!
Umm... the download link was broken off the page. It should work now, but docs are a bit scarce.

I don't have an 83, but maybe you can take and modify my font for the 89 (link above). It is a fixed size font replacing the Graph Link font for the TI-89. It looks exactly like the 89 character set, but I know the 83 has a different one.
Sorry about the "Terminal" thing: Up until now, I didn't find a way to make a new font rather than modify an old one; maybe hex-editing the file can help if you use an 8 character name.

Is there a program like this for TI-86? I'm asking because I've been working on a program recently which, although can be opened and edited on the calculator, is too big to open using TI-Graph Link, and the type of editing I need to do is next to impossible on calculator (I need to literally split the program in half into two to make it [them] run faster. Too bad the calculator doesn't support cut & paste for large blocks ot text. Program idea for any assembly programmers?).

This is the only place i know how to talk to ppl on this site, so this isnt about this topic. Why is ticalc only proccesing like 3 games a day when it says HEAVY or whatever on the uplink thing. is it do to them emailing authors for permission about the CD?
