ARPG Directories Created
Posted by Eric on 1 March 2001, 00:41 GMT

While we're on the subject of directory creation, I succumbed to the barrage of requests and created ARPGCS directories for the TI-83 and the TI-83+. There. That should be enough new directories to last us a while.

And thanks for everyone's concern about this; I'm fine. I was about fifteen miles away from the epicenter at the time, but since I happened to be driving at the time, I only felt a few shakes that I thought were bumps in the road. I only made the connection about fifteen minutes after I heard about the quake on the radio...so call me slow. Sheesh.

How about NO, YOU STUPID IDIOT?

"Evil Dead: Hail to the King" (I assume this is the game you're talking about?) isn't even all that great a game.

And a port to the calculator would be impractical, wasteful of memory, and above all a plain old bad idea. Modern 3D video games don't port well to tiny grayscale calculator screens with 68K processors.

And anyway, the game's just a bad ripoff of Resident Evil.

BTW, The Evil Dead game probably wouldn't be a good game for the TI but you could try. I admit the game play in The Evil Dead game is similar to Resident Evil, but the Evil Dead movies have been out for more than 10 years, I think, but that's beyond the point. I was just bored and felt like postin' something. *waits for insult*

Amen.

I see that this moron is moving up to two posts per discussion.

Give it a month and Eric will have to make a seperate directory for all of his stupid fucking requests for a game that really sucks.

I kill myself.

Ahh, yes the infamous ARPG's. I agree with the fact that they are becoming annoying, thinking that you downloaded a game of another type. I did make 3 of them, which weren't very great but that's when I first started making games and didn't even know how to display text in Basic, even though it is pretty simple. Go figure...

i think that arpgs or whatever they are called should just be used to illustrate a rpg game not to start coming up with dumb games with different names... I know its hard to learn "real programming". I am currently learning and it took me 3 monthts to finally be able to move a sprite "properly" on a screen. But once you learn its worth it... By the way could someone tell me allthe quit routines they know. i have a minor problem in that when i exit a program that i make on mirage sometimes my ram clears.

*it took me three months because very very little is being done to help Ti-83+ programmers especially for mirage. if anyone knows some good mirage programming tutorials please post them here.... thnxs

hmm... chances are when you try to exit your program (with ret, I assume) you have something pushed onto the stack that shouldn't be there. When you use "ret", the last 2 byte value on the stack is popped off and the pc (program counter) is set to it. (I think) Check your code to make sure you popped just as many registers as you pushed onto the stack. or at the beggining of your program do

ld (stack),sp

and at the end do

ld sp,(stack)

Read the AsmGuru. Even though it's written for the 83, almost all of it is applicable to the 83+.
