lists.ticalc.org Moving
Posted by Magnus on 19 February 2001, 17:04 GMT
During the day tomorrow, 20 February, all the mailing lists hosted on lists.ticalc.org will move to a new machine. At the same time, we will switch the mailing lists manager software from majordomo to listar. The lists will still be accessed in the same way, at lists.ticalc.org. The DNS record will be updated to point to the new machine. As this change is made, the old aliases for all commands will be dropped, so it will no longer be possible to subscribe or unsubscribe using the old server. It will still be possible to send mail to the lists using the old server for a short while, in order to minimise problems. However, it will take a while for all DNS servers that cache the zone to update. During this time, some users may still be connecting to the old server, which may end up with some mails not reaching the lists. If this happens, please wait a couple of hours and try again. The methods for subscribing and unsubscribing will also change - please look for an updated version of the mailinglist information page on our website during the day. We apologize for the inconvenience caused by this. If there are any problems caused by this that are not listed above, please let me know at mha@ticalc.org ASAP. Note: This is during the daytime GMT.

So, do you think Listar will be less a pain-in-the-neck than Majordomo was do you?
