Calendar v1.0 Released for TI-83+
Posted by Eric on 2 February 2001, 06:42 GMT

Calendar v1.0 Ever catch yourself wondering what day of the week it is, except that you're lacking a calendar and all you have is a lousy TI-83+?

What's that? "No," you say? Well then. Maybe you have...maybe you haven't, but ya never know, so be sure and check out Jason Kovacs's new project: Calendar v1.0 for MirageOS. Besides the obvious calendar-displaying features, this program has a multitude of additional features that can transform your calculator into a personal organizer by allowing you to store text messages onto specific dates. And other stuff, too. You may want to check out the Detached Solutions webpage to find out more.

Update (Eric): Ahh, looks like we had more DNS troubles yesterday. Magnus has instituted a workaround, so that should be the end of that for a while. On another note, if you have a file that you uploaded that's still waiting to make its way into our archives, please do not resubmit it. Your file is in our pending and will be added soon. Thanks.

I wish there would be something similar for the TI89! :-(

there is: it's called Ultimate Organizer. It's a TI-89 basic misc. program w/ a calendar, school class organizer(organize classes by writing Homework assignments, notes, etc.), address and phone book, to do list, and more... Why Calendar got a news article and not Ultimate Organizer is strange considering they're basically the same and have the same features.

How ironic. It's usually the other way around.

How ironic? This is the norm. The TI-83 Plus is the most popular calculator thus far (not as far as calculations; for calculations, go with the TI-89) and is therefore worked on the most. You also must understand that the TI-83 Plus is newer and the TI-83 Plus SE will be the newest (incouraging mor good programs for the 83 Plus and 83 Plus SE).

Wow Eric, is there really alot happening in the area of TI news or have you just been bored lately? You've posted more articles this week than you did since the beginning of the year. I think you need to take your medicine, your looking like you're obsessed with calcs. :b Or is it that you feel obligated since TICALC has been catching a lot of flack lately.

(Is "FLACK" a real word? Did I just make it up? I really don't know. It just sounded right. I think I need to take MY medicine. :b If it isn't a real word, let me know.)

Flack:

1. PRESS AGENT - vi. [slang] to serve as a press agent
2. alt. sp. of flak

So it is a world, most likely you meant the second definition.

When used as a noun, "flack" can mean:
* A press agent; a publicist.
* Antiaircraft artillery.
* The bursting shells fired from such artillery.
* Excessive or abusive criticism.
* Dissension; opposition.

You know. I've been pondering in my head for so long, "What does 'flack' mean". I told myself several times to get a dictionary, but why do that when I can just come to ticalc.org and look up unknown words here?
Hmmmm... Let's see... That's 432 unknown words I've found including: Flotilla, Mass and Discharge. :)

I'm sorry, but it's impossible for me to test every program for its newsworthiness. If you have anything newsworthy, email it to news@ticalc.org and it'll be posted.

I find news articles that meerely point out a new program that can be found in the "recent programs" section on the front page rather boring. In particular I got sick of all the doorsos news items announcing a new version of doorsos that fixed some silly bug.

People just say cool program, brag about first comment, and often times they ask for it to be ported.

And this whole newsworthiness thing is rather relative. I think this is one of the programs that people will try out and stop using because calc typing is not practical. But if I suggested that any of my programs, which people continue to use, (like yapt or complete) get a news item you would just say "good program, but not news worthy."

Then name something else that is supposedly newsworthy besides this stuff?

Basic "games" don't count.

I love the calendar, but he released it just when I was about to release my organizer. Now my organizer will probably will not get very many downloads. Anyone want to sign up for Olympia Corporations News Letter? Contains things dealing with 83+'s and computers. Just e-mail me at any of the following adresses. ilovethevikings@yahoo.com; ilovevikings@hotmail.com; impurplepride@cs.com.

Thanks
Matt Schaefer
