Screenshot Staff, Part 2
Posted by Nick on 15 October 2000, 23:30 GMT

Remember me? I thought not. Well, you may not have seen me much on the external side of the site, but I've still been working pretty hard internally to make sure everything doesn't break.

I've also been in charge of the screenshot staff. These happy folk have the position of - duh - screenshotting all the files in our file archive. We had a fantastic turnout the first time, so hopefully this time will be just as good. We've screenshotted 41.26% of the files in the archive, so things have been going very well. This time, there's a much better chance you'll get on. Trust me. All you need to do is fill out our happy little application thing and email it to ss@ticalc.org. We'll get back to you as soon as possible.

If you applied before and you didn't make it, email me and we can talk. I'll try to contact all of you sooner or later; college is quite the workload. Thanks, everyone! :)

This should be handled by mail, but since I've mailed the file archive staff twice without geting any response what so ever, I'll write this here, where it's not entirely out of topic...

Some time ago I wrote a little example program called gr7 that achived (allmost) compleatly flicker free seven level grayscale on the HW1 TI89. It uses some quite involved hacks and thuse it can't be executed on the VTI-emulator. That means it's inpossible to take a screen shot of it in the ordinary way.

This doesn't really matter, since we all know what seven bars of gray look like... Still there are 'screen shots' of it on the info page, but they are compleatly wrong, just showing the home screen. Please remove the faulty screenshots...

Those are some of the kinks to be removed in the system. I know the feeling of finding programs that don't work and having to screen-shot them (I AM on the staff). If you need to have a program NOT be ss'ed, mail filearchives@ticalc.org to tell them one can't be made. They can flag programs as non-ss-able (mmm...I don't even care if that word made no sense)

41.26% of the whole archives, not the past 5 days or whatever. And now it's 42.03%.

I've noticed that too. I uploaded several 86 programs a WEEK ago and they still aren't in the archives yet.

All file archivers are currently busy doing other things more important than adding files to the archives.

Please stand by.
