Fred Coughlin Releases Yoshi's Cookie v1.0
Posted by Nick on 4 August 2000, 04:05 GMT
The man - the myth - the legend - The Fred Coughlin(TM) - has put out 82 (CrASH), 83 and 83 Plus (Ion) versions of Yoshi's Cookie v1.0. This looks positively funtastic, and quite true to the original version. Download this post-haste! It's nice to see TCPA coming out with lots and lots and lots of new material all the time. Also, slightly related to TCPA and mathematics in general: Dulce pointed out to me a book and its related Java applet that has kept me quite addicted. Just wanted to share a link. This reminds me a great deal of the presentation done by PrayStation and the work of assembler.org. Just some more math stuff to share during the summer downtime. :)

This is a very fine program. Does it, by any chance, have special features for MirageOS :) hehe

I just wanted to let everyone know, the 82 version of the game at the moment does not work under ROM 19.0. I will find out the cause, and release a fixed version in the near future.

That applet is cool, but if you like fractals, you should get Fractint. Fractint is a really good fractal generating program, and it's free! The web link at the top of this comment will take you to its home page.

This brings back fond memories. About the time this game came out for Game Boy, I got two koi (Japanese carp) as pet fish. When we were going over to the pet store we got them from, I think I was playing Yoshi's Cookie on my Game Boy. Because of that, I named them Yoshi and Cookie. Yoshi died about 3 years later, but Cookie is still alive and growing. After 7 years, Cookie has grown from 3 inches to over 15 and is now in a 75 gallon aquarium. I hope this port of the game is as good as the original (I haven't dled it yet).

Aren't there games like this out already? Nevertheless, it's a great and fun game. There can't be too many puzzle prgms.

What? Summer downtime?
School's already started, at least for me. (Damn Texas schools; never should've moved away from Colorado)
As far as math goes though, there are only two other kids in my class. Since when is pre-calc considered two years ahead of normal for 10th graders. On the plus side, we get to use some really cool video conferencing equipment. The sound delay sucks though. The teacher never said that 92+'s aren't allowed in the class. ("As long as your calculator is at least as good as a TI-83, you can use it.") I could probably pass the class next week, if I used the CAS. (even still, I covered everything in Alg II and could pass the exam if I studied for a couple weeks.)
Back on topic, Good jop TCPA! You guys have produced some very good programs lately.

A new version for the TI-82 has been uploaded to the site (and should be available shortly). Included is a file that SHOULD work on the TI-82 ROM 19.0
