eXor Releases Pang v1.0
Posted by Nick on 23 April 2000, 03:30 GMT
eXor has put out the initial release of quite the addictive piece of programming: Pang v1.0 for the TI-89. Thanks to Tim Buckingham for doing the port to English. This game features bouncing balls that you have to break apart before they crush you. It gets much more complex as the balls get smaller; you have to dodge an increasing amount, and it makes the game very fast-paced. Good work on both sides of the pond. Update (Nick): Tim has created a port of Pang to the TI-92 Plus. It's untested, so it might crash. Load this on at your own risk. You can download it here.

Very nice game eXor. Nice graphics, especially. Since most people like suggestions for new versions of their games, I have a couple that could make this game really interesting.
- A couple different characters, instead of just the one guy.
- New weapons. Would definatly make things interesting.
This game is really great. Very good job.

Great game!
I only played the game for one minute and I only reached the second level so I don't know what happens next. If the game is the same through the other levels it needs some kind of twist or something to keep you interested. I also noticed that when you make I high score you can't write your name. If would be good if users could write their names or initials when they make a high score.

Ummm, Nick, you fsck'd up the link to Tim's email address. You should have put <a href="mailto:zoneti@tinews.net"> and instead you forgot the "mailto" and thelink is now trash.
And just to be on topic, this game rules! I downloaded it when it was on TI-FR (about a week ago) and went mad playing it. I quickly went to mame.dk and downloaded all the Pang MAME ROMs I could find. I was not dissapointed. I especially like Pang! 3, it has cool CGI generated graphics, somewhat like DKC on the SNES, but the sound was a little flakey.
Anyways, I hope the author luck, and continues to build upon this awesome game.

Wow. Finally Super Buster Brothers came to the calculator. I myself am working (slowly cause of other projects)on this game for the 83/+. Anyway, I noticed some comments above on wanting different weapons, these are the ones I remember from Super Buster Brothers on SNES
1) Regular gun
2) Double gun (2 of current gun can be shot in different places)
3) Anchored (Sticks to ceiling for certain amount of time or until a ball hits it) (great w/double gun)
4) Machine Gun (shoots 3 or 5 or some enumber in different directions)
Also, I remember when you shot a ball, sometimes stuff would come out
1)Bomb, everything exploded into smalles balls (can be bad or good...)
2)Ball stopper (stops balls for about 5 seconds)
there were more. Anyway - the game also had a ton of levels, also in some of the levels, when ou shot certain bricks, they wouldd disappear.
Well, just a few suggestions on what the gme was like on SNES.

Good job, Tim... a lot of my friends appreciate your work :-)
Anyway, has anyone seen TI-FR's new layout? Seems as if everyone's copying off ticalc.org these days (except for the tabs on the top of the new page)...
