Ion v1.3 and Lots and Lots of Modules From Dan Englender
Posted by Nick on 2 January 2000, 08:05 GMT
Joe Wingbermuehle has released version 1.3 of his popular shell, Ion, for the 83 and the 83 Plus. New features include major improvements for external modules. And while we're on that note, Dan Englender of the TCPA has released nine brand new modules for Ion. Modules are simple add-ons that are almost always incredibly small in file size; they help you customize specific features of the shell. All of these are pretty self-explanatory so I'll leave you to download and explore. Hex Viewer for the 83 and the 83 Plus. Delete for the 83 and the 83 Plus. Alphabetize - Description for the 83 and the 83 Plus. Alphabetize - Name for the 83 and the 83 Plus. Contrast for the 83 and the 83 Plus. Startup Message for the 83 and the 83 Plus. Organize List for the 83 and the 83 Plus. Folder for the 83 and the 83 Plus. Hide for the 83 and the 83 Plus. And finally, in time for the new year, TCPA has released a completely overhauled version of their home page. It looks very impressive so far. We're looking forward to new releases by TCPA all the time! Update (Nick): As you've seen on the comment boards, there have apparently been some problems with the modules. Dan has uploaded and claimed all the programs that needed to be fixed. Hex Viewer, Contrast, Alphabetize - Name, Organize List, Startup Message, Hide and Delete should all be functional now. Thanks to Dan for helping me get these up as soon as possible. ;) Update... The Return (Nick): Ion v1.4 has been released by Joe. This fixes many problems that people have been having with the modules. To this end, all the modules have been updated by Dan. Looks like a mass re-downloading is in order *g*.

For some reason, the modules will not do anything. Ion does not even show them on the interface screen if it is supposed to. Is there something i am not doing?

These modules are nice, It would have been nicer if the folders could be visible, and you could file indiviual Archived programs, since that fact that ION can run archived programs makes it the best shell for the 83+.
I'll look for that in later versions...

For some reason the hide program f***** up my calculator. I can even reset the memory. I even tried taking out all the batteries, EVEN THE BACKUP BATTERY, and it just shows my the ion main screen for a second then it shuts off.

You can look forward to version 1.4 of Ion (which fixes a module bug Ion 1.3 had), and updated modules within the week (not to mention folder names, as someone requested I believe). This should fix any and all current module crashes!
Thanks,
-Dan
