James Rubingh and Corey Taylor Release Arkanoid 2 v1.01 w/Level Editor
Posted by Nick on 14 December 1999, 00:10 GMT
James Rubingh of ACZ has released Arkanoid 2 v1.01 for the TI-86. This game, unlike other breakout games, contains one interesting feature: 256 directional ball movement. A level editor, created by Corey Taylor, is also included. Congrats to James, Corey and all of ACZ for their great efforts! Update (Nick): James recently fixed a minor bug that slowed the display of the score. You can download the updated version here. It's now at version 1.02.

Nice game, brings some life back into the good old breakout games, especially with the level editor. Good job!

When will SonicMisAdventures for the TI-86 come out?

Just a question. Seems that TI-89, 92, and 92 + only have SOnci MisAdventures, Is it possible to get it on the 86? If so, how big is it? Sorry if it isnt relevant to the topic, but I just wanted to know. Thx in advance.

The 89, 92 and 92+ have a common form of assembly language which makes porting very easy. These three calulators use the Motorola 68000 processor.
The 82, 83, 85 and 86, however, use a Zilog Z80 processor, which requires a different form of assembly. As a result, porting between 68K and Z80 calculators is very difficult.
Plus, SMA is far too large to port to the 86 - the 86's memory is probably still too small despite the 96K(?) available, and it would be much slower anyway.
D'oh!

anybody else have a problem with this game slowing down tremendously after you beat the first level of the Orzlevel set? I also seem to have trouble with the arklevels and arkscrn, which aren't recognized formats for the graphlink to send

The level editor is fixed. You can send using TIs software now. That was the oddest bug ever.
Oh, about my name, Vejita with a "J". It is a variation I got from japanese and a partial translation or something. Don't ask me to explain it completely right now.
If you don't like it...call me corey.
