More Games for AMS v2.0x
Posted by Nick on 13 December 1999, 23:20 GMT

More games are coming out with support under AMS v2.0x. These will function under the new kernel. You can download Falldown v0.1 and BoulderDash v1.1b5. If you have any other success stories with getting games to work on AMS v2.03, please email me.

I'm fine with the 5 or so games released and AMS 2.03. I think it's awesome that the archive isn't erased when the calc crashes!!! That is just what I've been waiting for!!!

Anyway... maybe we can get SMQ running under the new kernel...

AMS 2.03 is better than it seems... I'm gonna wait for the SDK and try to make some C programs...

Ti sez that the 8k program size limit is intentional, that they did it so we can't pirate the comercial flash software that no one is going to develope using these bastards SDK.

Too sad... HPs have bad hardware and good programmer support, whereas it's the opposite for TIs.

Actually that's not quite correct, HP has good hardware/software, while...

HP has much better hardware/software support compared to TI's, but it is much less user friendly (In other words, unlike the TI you can't just look at it and use it)

hehe, if you don't believe me, just remember, HP has sound built in, IR ports in all but the 49g, more memory, and much more than that

If you want to say that the HP's have less "extra" hardware, think again, I've seen HP's with 8mb's of RAM/ROM as well as working radio links (we could get some tips from them) Sure, nobody has "invented" speakers and IR ports for HP's because they already have them built in!!!

I use my HP calc for engineering, and my TI calc for gaming and simple problems. Now that I can't play games, might as well use my HP 48gx w/a 2 mb RAM upgrade hehe, w/2 versions of zelda, fully operational doom, and much more (prince of persia, etc)

Archive Recovery
Dark_Ninja

What's this about the archive not erasing when your calc crashes? Is this similar to the Archive Utility designed for AMS 1.0x? If so, then, is the same bug still involved where, if your calc crashes, sometimes the programs don't fully recover, and then you can never get them off your calc without completely wiping your calc's memory? (Has anybody else ever had that problem?)

Okay, I have HW 1, and there is a program out there for 1.00 that saves your archive memory when the calc is reset or crashed or god-knows-what. Its called inst89 - just look for it. That may save some of you the time and difficulty of upgrading to 2.03 just for the memory crash-guard.

When is Doors going to be compatible? Also, What's with the lack of good 3D games, like Doom and Need For Speed clones on the 92 Plus?

i have hw1, but it probably doesn't matter. all you have to do is send kernel, launch(if you don't want to type it every time), and whatever libs are in there. after you run kernal, you just have to type
launch("game") where game is the game you want to play . if you have your game in a different folder, remember to type that in launch("games/game")

the games can't work on the HW 2 and rom 2.03
if you lanch a games whith launch() the calc will crash
but you can always launch games <8 whith the command line (just the name of the file : theprog() )but you must install kernel first and have the requiered librairies

but the games under 8 are poor and not very cool !!!!

i play a game of falldown and exit, and the integration on the calculator breaks
(maybe due to hufflib?)
when i try to find the area under a curve it gives the error "argument must be a boolean expression or integer"
i have to reset the calculator to fix it

defective hufflib???
Bobman  Account Info

Yeah. The same thing happened to me. I was using the "solve(" thing for my homework with falldown, hufflib, and all of those other games that work for the calculator ROM 2.03 when it said,"argument must be boolean expression or interger". I wondered why and tried a more simple equation, but it did the same thing. I finally tried "solve(7+8=24,x)". It returned an answer of "false". Then I tried "solve(5+9=14,x)". Ti returned "true". I wonder why it worked that time, but not with a real equation?

Yeah, I found the same problem. I also hit it when trying to enter a 3d graph equation. Anyone fixed hufflib yet?
