Euro-Asia GameBoy Looks at Calculator Gaming
Posted by Chris on 18 November 1999, 00:10 GMT

Euro-Asia GameBoy, an ign.com affiliate, has posted an article written by our very own Nick Disabato on the subject of calculator games. It discusses the history of calculator-based assembly programming and how gaming came to be so popular on the TIs. The piece also briefly compares the TI with the Game Boy handheld gaming device. Hopefully exposure like this is the start of a trend toward increased mainstream attention to calculator gaming in the future.

i know this is off topic but i need help. recently i installed the most recent vs. of the mathmatical softwre for the TI-89 and it screwed my calculator so to speak. it turns off if it is idle for about 10-15 sec. and even when you are doing a calculation, also when i load a program i.e. Peroid89 its a periodic table but when it loads the startup screen for it, all the buttons freeze and i can't exit the program this all happened right after i installed the new math software. if anybody has any idea what might be wrong please let me know ASAP(as soon as possible)!!! Please e-mail also, because i am going to be gone for the next week and will only have e-mail available. Thanx for your time

I think Gameboys are better for things like long trips because with a calc you run the risk of having your ram cleared or screwed up, and if you're on a trip, you probably don't have access to a graphlink or computer.
Also, Gameboy games are generally much longer than calc games (at least for adventure/rpg games).

Well a lot of people have lab tops so they can just re-send the programs to their calculater. but then again if you have a labtop u'll just be playing gamez on there! ~ DusTy

I hope that this doesn't get to big, I like the fact that the TI-gamers/programmers are "on their own". It makes programming a little more fun...But then again we might get some really cool games...

I think that if Nick is going to publish articles, he should learn how to write. That article is incredible amateurish. There is more to writing than using big words.

Talk about amatures, if you could read you would notice that Nick did NOT post this article. I believe it was Chris who did.

Calculator software for Gameboy instead of Games in TI's

Maybe those who have more games than useful programs in their calculators should start a programming group and make calculator software for Gameboys. That way you would have the coolest 54 color 3d-graphing calc.
