Clock and Pong v0.2 Beta for the 89
Posted by Nick on 6 November 1999, 05:53 GMT

Two 89 ASM programs have been added recently of worthy mention:

ClockI just thought this program was so stinking neat, I couldn't resist giving it a mention. A Clock that runs in the "tray" of the 89, next to where the history pairs appear. Yes, it's multitasking - you can do anything else you'd normally do on the 89 while it's running. It's "more or less accurate," according to the author, Arie Benichou. Its only drawback is that the only way to get rid of it is to either reset the calculator or to uninstall DoorsOS. In the screenshot, I'm changing the time using the arrow keys (it's shown at the bottom).

Secondly (and lastly), Florian Clavert has released an assembly version of Pong for the 89, called Pong v0.2 Beta. It has all the normal features you'd expect from a pong game, including AI play.

I have always thought it was an awesome idea to have a clock on your TI. My friend who is a total fan of HP calculators is always talking smack saying that "Your TI sucks compared to an HP. When it has the ability to run a clock like the HP does then we'll talk". That is probably the only thing i admire about his HP is the clock. I just think it is a cool idea. Well I downloaded this program and tarnsfered it to my calculator. I was so amazed. Heheh I know it seems like I am getting excited over this but I really think it is a wonderful idea. So I set the time and turned off the calculator and after I shut it off I did not return till morning and when I did I discovered that the clock was off by about 20 minutes. I was a little bummed but I must admit I am still pretty happy that these bright gentlemen have done what they have. I want to encourage you guys to keep up the wonderful programming and to stick with it. I will continue to be happy over this program and to wait patiently for the finished program to come out. Rock on!!!
