Gossamer 1.0 Released
Posted by Ryan on 15 June 2011, 23:17 GMT
Some very cool news has cropped up that I am thrilled to share with everyone.
Christopher "Kerm
Martian" Mitchell, the author of such other featured software as Doors CS 7.1,
has both announced and released Gossamer 1.0,
described as "a fledging web browser for TI graphing calculators", in less than one
week.
The project page features a few screenshots in addition to a video of an
earlier version of the software in action. The browser is said to work in conjunction
with CALCnet, globalCALCnet, and the Doors CS 7 shell (more on that in a minute). When it
was announced that a full version would be on the way, other features
were hinted at being added down the road. An extremely exciting potential feature
includes the handling of .zip files in such a manner that allows for the download and
extraction of software directly to calcs.
In addition to Gossamer 1.0, Kerm has released Doors CS 7.2 Beta 2, which is required in order to run the web
browsing software. Remember this moment, such that you will be able to pass the story to
your grandchildren about the day that the internet found its way to your calc.
Update: Kerm has uploaded a video of the current release of Gossamer in action, located here.
