Brian Coventry Releases Bubble Breaker and Geometry Wars
Posted by Travis on 2 July 2010, 06:57 GMT
Brian Coventry has released TI-84 Plus clones of a couple of popular games from other platforms. One is Bubble Breaker, a 4-color grayscale puzzle game that resembles SameGame. The object is to break bubbles of like colors to get a high score.
Geometry Wars is a fast-paced shooting game with lots of smooth, fast animation effects. The enemies are various geometrical shapes, each with its own behavior. This port uses an unconventional control scheme where a three-by-three group of keys are used to simulate a joystick. It is possible to move in any of sixteen directions with this arrangement.

Those two games are absolutely epic, especially the 2nd one, which I still play a lot.
I was starting getting worried this was never gonna be featured, though, given it came out almost a month ago x.x. I am glad it finally was as well as Bubble Breaker

I currently have about seven feature suggestions on my list, it's just a matter of figuring out how to stay caught up.
Compared to other tasks such as processing pending files which usually can be done in just a few minutes, writing news can be surprisingly time-consuming. There's finding, downloading, and testing the file, reading the description and documentation, organizing the information and figuring out what to say in a way that doesn't sound like a mere copy of the description, preparing a non-animated frame from an animated screenshot and uploading that, double-checking all the HTML, links, and facts, etc.
As I've gotten more practice with this, I think I'm gradually becoming a bit faster and more efficient at it, though.

Geometry Wars: wow.
The animations are brilliant. The author managed to translate the feel, and the results is an awesomely retro game.
Well done, really really well done. I am going to install a 84+ emulator just for this game :)

I saw this game when it came out, I was very impressed. I loved the graphics, and how he simulates the joystick. Very impressive.

it easily became my favorite game on the calculator...
i still play it everyday almost even though at least a month has passed...
i own the real geometry wars for PC, xbox, and ds lol
but ya... if the title screen could be made flasher and have multiple highscores this program would be perfect!
