TI Connect Adds 64-Bit, Windows 7 Support
Posted by Astrid on 7 November 2009, 07:19 GMT
Texas Instruments quietly (very quietly) told the world that they have
a new version of TI Connect available for download. It looks like you'll need to download both TI Connect 1.6 and the 1.6.1 patch to get full functionality.
The new version supports 64-bit Windows, as well as Windows Vista and
Windows 7. The previous lack of support has caused headaches for many
users of TI-Connect with 64-bit systems. There should now be nothing
stopping you from upgrading to a modern OS!

Oh pohey, that means the guide of workarounds I just finished is rather useless...no point in uploading it if everything is supported natively now...

ITS ABOUT TIME.
I have a laptop that dual boots 64-bit Vista and 64-bit Ubuntu. Never got the latest version of TiLP to work on Vista but it does work on Ubuntu. With the 64-bit TI-Connect patch, I finally have something on Vista to link my ti89ti. TiLP is still better...I made a backup using both and TI-Connect took an insanely long time to finish.

I find it quite funny looking through these posts, that when TI doesn't release something we want, we just make it. That is the beauty of a community like this.
Anyway, I wish they would make the mac software better. I don't really like it at all.

Hmm...what about OS X? T-Connect X hasn't been updated since Tiger. And it refuses to function properly under Snow Leopard at all.

Hold up a second ... I just tried the 64-bit edition and it still tries to read it as 32-bit (i.e. it still doesn't work). Anybody have an idea what's up with it?
