Web-Based Calculator Emulator
Posted by Michael on 23 December 2008, 19:30 GMT

Brandon Meyer has created TI8XEmu, a Flash-based (ActionScript) calculator emulator. Currently it supports the 82, 83, and 85. Visitors must upload their own ROM, which then runs in your web browser. In the future, Brandon plans to expand this to the 73, 86, and 89 as well.

Hehe, beaten to it - Great work! :-) I recently ported one of my emulator projects to Silverlight and was intending on porting the TI-83+ one next - I guess I don't need to bother now!

Luckily that frees you up for other exciting and awesome projects. :)

This means faster progress on BBC Basic? I need to try this when it comes out. I won't bother with the PC version though because it's shareware.

I was waiting for MLC but it has been 4 years since the TI version was worked on and it never went further than a couple of half-working commands and the title screen in that long

The BBC has a BASIC standard out now? ;P
How about putting the time in now to learn C? :D

Actually I wouldn't say the language itself is failsauce for Casio calcs, because at least Casio programmers now have something almost as easy as BASIC and C but as fast as ASM to make games on their calc, but the project by itself (which was to make a language cross compatible between both TI and Casio), is failsauce, as you said. I even considered trashing the whole subforum at Omnimaga because the TI versions never went anywhere in the 4 years I've watched MLC progress. It may partially be an Omnimaga project, but I pretty much lost all hope for it

To be fair, the 86 version I made was pretty fast, worked well, and ran a bunch of good games, but nothing really happened with it. Too bad the versions for the other TI calculators never got anywhere though...

I have not yet downloaded the program because the calculator is not in the current list.

I guess that this program works even when the user is not connected to the internet; is this correct? Or does this program require an Internet connection?

Would this program be able to handle APPS and/or Operating Systems?

Very impressive work, works with my TI-83 ROM nicely. Not sure about the on key break but still, great stuff :>.

I take it the CPU manufacturers have given up conspiring with Microsoft to make software slower, and moved on to smaller targets.
