More TI Contests
Posted by Michael on 26 June 2006, 15:19 GMT
Just like last year, TI is offering several contests on 84silver.com, their promotion site for the TI-84 Plus Silver Edition. The infamous GraphiTI contest is back and is now open to both teachers and students. Hopefully there will be less vote stuffing this year. There is also a $8,400 scholarship and an essay contest available.

After looking at the other designs, I think mine has a good chance of winning! It hasn't been approved yet, but when it is I'll post a link here.

Am I the only one who finds the entry in my link remarkably familliar? It's currently in 5th place. I swear I've seen it before somewhere, can't say where though.
What does TI do if it finds that an entry is copied off something else? Does it bump them and promote the 11th place entry?

"Dear Roy,
Thank you for contacting Texas Instruments. We appreciate your interest in and support of Texas Instruments technology and products.
You inquired regarding what is acceptable for images submitted in the GraphiTI contest. It is my understanding that as long as the image is in a format acceptable to the contest engine then there is no further criteria which needs to be met.
The 'Top Ten' are there by virtues of the number of votes. The finalist will be judged according to the contest criteria of "Creativity" (50%), and "Use of Tools" (50%)."
Bah humbug. I've replied, this time actually quoting from the rules (should've done that before, whoops!). It's not that big a deal, of course, but if they manage to actually end up in the top ten by the end I'm going to be rather angry.
It took quite literally 3 clicks to make it ("Browse", type in the address, "Open", "Upload"). It didn't even need to be cropped beforehand, either, the Flash drawing thing does it for you.
