xLIB xLIB Revolution v1.0 Released
Posted by Michael on 16 October 2005, 13:48 GMT

[Action shot of xLIB xLIB Revolution] Master of BASIC programming Kevin Ouellet has done the impossible again. This time he has created xLIB xLIB Revolution, a clone of Dance Dance Revolution for the 83+. In extremely impressive style, the game allows for background images and animations in addition to running at a decent speed. There is a level editor for creating your own songs. xLIB xLIB Revolution does, as its name indicates, require the flash application xLIB (which is included in the zip file), so you must have at least 16 KB of free archive space.

I must warn everyone...this game is EXTREMELY addictive! I played it continually the first time I put it on my calc until it was wiped out in a RAM clear (caused by another game).

Hmm... You were playing it continually, and yet another program managed to crash your calc... So either your calc is possesed, or it multi-tasks. :)

Either way, I'll take it off his hands.

This can't possibly be a BASIC program right? I mean the graphics are so Asm-like. I won't believe it till I play it. But sadly, I have no idea how! What's this Flib app? Can I get it on ticalc.org? What other games work with the app? Do the BASIC programs need to be in RAM? And what exactly did that guy mean by "it runs fast on four calculators?" Can someone answer all my questions?

* It really is a BASIC program.

* xLIB is a FLASH application that you must install on your calculator before you can run some programs. It's a library that BASIC programs can call to do fast drawing, greyscale, and various other things. xLIB is written in assembly language. You can download xLIB from ticalc.org.

* The program manages to run at the same speed on the TI-83+, TI-84 and maybe some other calculators with different speed CPUs. That's not something everyone's managed to do.

OK, I'll bite:

duh
try Google
it has been adjusted so all calcs. run at the same speed as the 83+, so the users of slower calcs. don't have an advantage

So no one knows if other games were made that are compatible with xlib?

Awesome! :D
Last time I played this (co-incidently the first time I played it), the other week, with an ingrown toenail I was saying to a friend "I'd so beat you if this was on calculator!"
And now it is ~________________~ w00t
