TI Connect v1.6 for OS X
Posted by Michael on 23 September 2005, 22:06 GMT

Ever-speedy Texas Instruments has at long last released TI Connect v1.6 for OS X, nine months after the corresponding Windows version debuted. System requirements include OS X 10.2 or higher, 128 MB of RAM, 20 MB of disk space, and the silver USB link cable.

Old news. Jeez, I installed it yesterday morning, hours after they uploaded it.

(I really am trying to be funny: Stephen Reid told me about the new version yesterday and I installed it.) I've had the prereleases for about six months.

Didn't earlier versions? I have 1.1 for OS X, which works fine with my 89 Titanium.

yeah...at least the one right before this one did...that's the only one I'd ever used, because I just got my titanium about a week or two ago...

BTW, isn't it technically incorrect to say "OS X 10.whatever"? Doesn't the "X" mean 10? It should be "OS 10.whatever" shouldn't it? I guess it doesn't really matter...just curious...

Steve says "Mac Oh Ess Ten, Ten Point Four Point Two".

Steve is always right.

And, yes, it sounds dumb.

I use it and call it "Oh Ess Ecks" and if further detail required I add "ten point <number>" ... unless of course the subject is already revolving around macs.. there's no need to say "Oh Ess Ecks" and simply says "ten point <number> point <number>"

I think TI will benefit better if they make the programs for windows too. Not that they don't have a lot of money all ready, but I think pretty soon Ti might go bankrupt. Now that could best Hurricane Rita on the news.

TI makes TI-Connect for Windows. TI won't go bankrupt. That's like saying "Apple will go under any minute there."

TI is in more than just the calculator business...I'd venture to say they're up there with Motorola...not quite as far up there, but...you get the picture...

The entire TI calculator division is only something like 0.5% of TI's business.

Yeah, they make a chip in iPods, and I know they still make processors. More reason for them to not go bankrupt.

I know they make a lot of logic and other IC's. They use the designation "SN", so if you ever see "SN" followed by numbers and maybe some letters on an IC, you know it's made by TI.
