TI Offers Contests, Prizes
Posted by Michael on 26 July 2005, 05:12 GMT
Currently 84silver.com, TI's website promoting the TI-84 Plus, is hosting a number of contests. First is a competition for designing a GraphiTI design. That offers the chance at a $1000 shopping spree for you and some calculator equipment for your school. There is also a pure-chance contest offering an $8,400 college scholarship. Lastly, beginning on August 1, there will be a TI graphing calculator success story essay contest.

Anyone happen to know if the $1000 shopping spree is for TI-only stuff or actual money? For most of us here at ticalc.org we wouldn't mind TI-only stuff but some people who don't really care for calcs nearly as much as we do wouldn't take much advantage of this.

This had better not turn into a bunch of people asking for everyone to vote for their GraphiTI (or sticker, whatever) design...

I move for a moratorium on voting for "mathmatical beauty" (curently #5), as its author has total disregard for spelling and capitalization in English.

Theoretically, someone could write a program that would do the drawing for them, ie. translate the Photoshop image onto the Flash design program (which sucks) by drawing points of varying opacity and size.

Success story to TI? Mine would go like this:
I got a TI calc real cheap...about 40 dollars less than what the one in the TI store cost. Success! And going to their website, i saw that they have almost no apps, and most of the apps there do suck. So I searched and found ticalc.org, where there are thousands of files! Success!
