TI Connect v1.6 Released
Posted by Michael on 24 January 2005, 03:35 GMT
TI has finally released version 1.6 of their TI Connect linking software. Most of the changes appear to be nonvisible to the user. Some notable idiosyncrasies remain, such as the warning that firewalls may interfere with linking.
Those of you with a 84+/84+ SE will also want to download the newly released v2.30 operating system.

...I like BASIC...
But then again, it's prolly cause I suck at ASM :D
I think its better to do Math and science related programs, but ASM is better for high tech games. Although some amazing BASIC games have been created, most are with ASM support in the form of OS extensions or subprograms. Also, ASM is way, WAY better in the graphics department... most BASIC games have really sucky graphics (no offense, mine do too...).
Also, I have seen some new Operating Systems made for the TI-83 on this site. I just wonder if they are like TI's OS's. Can you just install them and run programs through it without having an OS(such as 1.18 on an 83+ or 2.23 on an 84+), or do you have to install it into the regular OS. If not, then much could be done with this... Many games could be preloaded right into the TI-OS. Also, many new functions could be programmed in such as Omnicalc's and Symbolic's functions without actually having to have the APPS on your calculator. The only downside to this would be that you couldn't update the games or apps once they were in there unless you completely updated the OS. This would be the only major downside that I can see (of course someone will spot more...)
I was thinking that with as much talent that is present on this site that at least ONE person would know how to do this. If so, we could create a whole new language with a mixture of BASIC and ASM commands... This would probably be the greates feat ever accomplished on a TI-Calculator. We could created an OS that could do anything and everything anyone would want without having to have a single external program...
Well, that was my imaginative mind going off for half a page of writing... If anyone knows of a way to do this, I think he/she should contact a bunch of members on ticalc to maybe actually put this into programming code... That would be so AWESOME!!!
(: :)
