Posted by Michael on 10 May 2004, 03:32 GMT
Our best-selling...err best-downloaded author of all time, Patrick Davidson, has released v0.99 of his breakout-type game, Monster. Playable on the 89, 92+, and V200, Monster features breakout action in grayscale and with seven different types of power-ups. As listed in the program description, there are also external levels, a high score table, and multiple speeds. Adding to the challenge, the screen scrolls horizontally along with the ball.

I like it. I think it's the first side scrolling breakout game I've seen for 68k. It's definately worth the download.

First off......Why does a few people hate patrick? To me he is one and i mean one of the best programmers out there. It's not his fought for all the problems with the games people play on the calc. Its the people who play the games on the calcs. I have a silver edition(83 of course) and I had Phoenix on there for the longest time and I havent had any troubles yet. Those few people out there that blame there problems of Patrick.....You need to grow up and if you think that he is a bad programmer then I like to see you make some games with his kind of style.
Patrick if your reading this.......I love your games. Keep up the good work. Your number one on my list.
Agian thanks Patrick for all these fantastic games. your the best. Your the kind of programmer I look up too.

He's a good programmer, but sometimes he seems to get so much more credit than he deserves. I mean, Monster is good, but it doesn't compare with Gran Tourismo, CalcRogue, and all the other good games out there. I mean, he's an excellent programmer, but so are a lot of other people. And he's the first guy people think of when they hear "Calculator Programmer", and Phoenix is the first thing people think of when they hear "Calculator game".
Not that he's a bad programmer. If I've mentioned it once, I'll mention it again, he's one of my favorite programmers. Of course, so is David Coz, Rusty Wagner, Flavien Racine, everyone in TICT, ... I could go on and on... (Don't feel offended if your name's not in here, btw, you're somewhere on the list :) Yes, that includes KermMartian. *dodges tomatoes thrown at him*)

Um... Unless I am going crazy, for a few moments there was an article about SlimeBall for the 89. When I followed a link in the article to the Java version a nasty little virus thing poped up and wouldn't close until I close Microsoft Internet Explorer. Now the article is gone!

hey, i just had a thought:
ticalc.org should have a forum where you can post topics about stuff(great idea, isn't it)
i mean a real one, these news articles are good, but an additional forum would be great
since we don't have one:
(bear in mind i'm not too good at math)
how do you find the sin, cos, etc. of a number using z80 assembly? (i hope no one deletes this, and that i don't sound stupid)
