BeatBox for the 82
Posted by Michael on 10 May 2004, 03:19 GMT

[BeatBox]BeatBox is the first 82 program that I've ever featured, mostly because no one really uses the 82 anymore (no flames please). However, BeatBox is, as the author says, a unique "drum machine." It lets you create your own patterns using a bass drum, snare drum, or hihat. Then you can save them to load later for play with headphones in the link port (or an AM radio nearby). BeatBox is available for ACE, CrASH, and CrASH for ROM v19.006.

Just imagine the music you could make with a Beowulf cluster of this program. :)

This one is slightly more relavant in the context that I was using it (it also explains the IN SOVIET RUSSIA thing).

"mostly because no one really uses the 82 anymore" (*sniff*)
But yeah... I guess you're right...

Well, this looks neat. I will have to check this out. However, the last time I tried using sound programs with my TI-82 and an AM radio, the results I got weren't that great. But hey... won't hurt to try again, I guess. :)

Oh, sorry... Exams coming, less time... YES I'll port BeatBox to TI83/TI83+ but this will be in a few months. Maybe July or August.

Nice! (of course you should have made it for the 83+ first because most people use that)

Just buy a TI-82 on eBay for 10$! Attention, don't buy the restyled version because the 19.001 rom version is not compatible with some shell.

Actually, the restyled version is ROM v. 19.006 (I know because I still own, use, and write the occassional program for my 82). You are sorta right though in that only CrASH 19.006 works as a shell, which sucks. I have this but haven't yet tried it out. Should be fun though.

The new ACE shell will work fine on both ROM 19.006 and older ROM versions.

19.006?

That's because that ROM version came out after people seemed to stop making stuff for the TI-82. Some still do, but it's not as frequent. It's interesting to see the occasional TI-82 program pop up in the news.
