HP launches new calculator
Posted by Magnus on 25 April 2004, 20:29 GMT
HP has launched what they claim to be the worlds most powerful RPN scientific calculator. This is HPs first launch of a RPN calculator since 1991.
This calculator is a "classic" calculator, and not a graphing one. It's a calculator directed at scientific usage, and has a clear focus on these functions. It supports the popular Reverse Polish Notation (RPN) for calculation, as well as normal algebraic notation. It's programmable and holds 31Kb of memory.

Link above showcases the calculator, including a photo, price, and a comprehensive list of features and capabilities. Looks interesting, and surely is unique among scientific calculators. Obviously it is inferior to all graphing calcs, but for a casual student who wants advanced math functionality without a large price tag, it looks like a good deal.

Why did Magnus even bother to post this? This website is called TIcalc (exaggerates the T and I) right?

I say we take the HP 33s and the TI-30X IIS, put them in a small ring, dress them in fancy wrestling duds, and watch them honor battle to the death. A Casio FX-300MSPLUS can be the referee. We could call it "The Scientific Calculator Showdown." We could sell tickets, show it on HBO, maybe even have a fancy story line where both calculators get in the ring and talk RPN smack to each other....
